The Silk Road was trade routes from China, Korea, and India across Asia to southern Europe. It brought silks and spices to Europe who wanted them so badly that when the Silk Road was cut off, the Europeans looked for alternate routes to find these goods. This led to ships going around Africa and later going west to the New World.
