knock sensors operate the same in every vehicle. when the engine "pings" or called spark knock( due to bad gas or low octane fuel, carbon build up on top of pistons or valves) the knock sensor sees this and retards the timing. vehicles now days, timing is not adjustable by u or me, only through the computer using the knock sensor and other sensors. master tech 26 yrs.

Some cars have an emergency pull tab on the inside of the truck to release it. Look for that first. If not have someone open it if you are stuck inside it. May be able to see the latch from the inside and pull the cord if it has one.

look for the leak yourself by running the vehicle while looking for the leak or take it to a mechanic.

Some of the top signs of a transmission issue would be that the car isn't switching gears or it is noisy when in neutral. Other signs would be that their is a bad smell.

Cylinder 1 is misfiring. 300 indicates a problem with all cylinders and 301 or 302 would indicate a problem with cylinders 1 or 2 respectively

The rear wheel torque spec for a 2001 Dodge Neon is 160 foot pounds.

It is under the housing that the upper radiator hose hooks to on the engine .

Check the actual oil level with the dipstick, then with your local agent.

Best case, it's a sensor or wiring fault that they should/may know about.

Worst case, you are low on oil and heading for engine damage.

It's an ugly situation for the Neon. First off, when a timing belt breaks, it never happens in a convenient time or place. That's why it's a good practice to change the timing belt every 60,000 miles or so - check the vehicle manufacturer's specs for their recommendation. As for what happens, that depends on the vehicle. When the timing belt breaks, the camshaft stops turning, but the crankshaft continues to spin for a few moments. In some engines, there is sufficient clearance between the now stuck-open valves and the top of the piston that the engine harmlessly comes to a stop, and the only real damage is to the timing belt itself. On other engines, like the one in the Neon, there is NOT enough clearance between the stuck-open valves and the tops of the pistons, and the resulting damage is quite severe, probably requiring the cylinder head to be replaced or rebuilt. Changing the timing belt just because of the mileage might seem like an expensive precaution to take, but not changing it per the manufacturer's recommendation is taking a gamble that you can't win. It's true that you *might* get an extra 5,000 or 25,000 miles out of it, but WHEN it finally lets go on your Neon you can at least Quadruple the repair costs as compared to simply changing the belt itself.

Dodge does not use inertia/reset switches.

If you are asking about the 2.0L engine....the ECM was changed to what is called a NGC and the crank and tone wheel(pickup for crank position sensor) was changed. Also, the blocks are not interchangeable due to the position of the crank sensor was changed. It may be possible to change the crank and and sensor then extend the harness to reach the front of the engine where it was move from the rear starting in 2003 but this would be alot of work. Everything else on the engine should changeover fine.

Look for bleeder valve about 1 1/2 inches tall somewhere usually front corner of engine when facing it, open small valve on top & bleed with engine at normal oper temp - usually need to open & bleed & repeat process to bleed

Under no circumstances do you crank. Antifreeze eats an engine like kids do candy. not sure if this post is years old, saw no date. Pull oil filter, drain oil. I would pour oil or kerosene through it . Lot more than it holds and let all drain out.

Personally, then I would pull plug wires so not to crank, I would fill with oil turn over for about 1 minute and drain again. Then I would feel safe to fill it and crank.

Not much worse thing you can do than put anti freeze in an engine.
