3. If no response, call 911 or better yet have someone else call if available

How do you allow the chest ot recoil completely after each chest compression?
Easy. When you lift your hands up at the end of a chest compression, you can feel when your hands are very nearly not pressing down. Then you start another compression.
You are doing it right if you are sort of bouncing up and down on the patient's chest, sort of like performing CPR on a large rubber ball. Around 40 compressions per minute or even faster is good for the patient, and minimizes your own fatigue.
The mentioned condition is agonal breathing and is a medical emergency as agonal breaths will not sustain life. For the lay rescuer, call 911 (or have someone else call), give 2 breaths, and start CPR. For HCP CPR certification, they would give 2 breaths and check pulse; then give care as required.
What should you determine first befor starting CPR?
The first thing that should be done is check to see if the person is responsive by gently shaking their shoulder and asking in a loud voice if they are alright. If they aren't responsive, call for help or have someone else call for help. The first step in the ABCs for CPR is opening up the airway by pulling up the neck and chin and tilting back the head.
The CNA Program and Nursing Home Employment?
Working with the elderly population can be a rewarding career. There are numerous employment opportunities that can allow an individual to work with the elderly population. One such career opportunity is working in a nursing home, or long term care facility. Many opportunities are available in long term care, but the CNA, or certified nursing assistant requires that the individual complete a CNA program. Many community colleges offer a comprehensive CNA program which allows the graduate to work under the direction of either an LPN, which is a licensed practical nurse, or an RN, which is a registered nurse.
Upon completing the CNA program and successfully passing a certification test, the CNA is allowed to administer basic care to patients in hospitals and to residents in nursing homes, skilled care facilities and long term care facilities. These basic care skills include bathing, dressing and feeding. In addition, the CNA will assist the patient to and from the bathroom, and may be called upon to offer physical rehabilitation services such as walking and exercising with the patient. The CNA also becomes proficient taking vital signs.
The student that has completed a CNA program is eligible, in some nursing homes, to work in a physical therapy or occupational therapy department. Employment opportunities also are available in the areas of physical and occupational rehabilitation departments as well. The CNA program will also required that the student become certified in CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Upon completion of the program, the student will become CPR certified and will receive a CPR card. The CPR certification card, is usually a requirement for employment for the CNA when working at a nursing home or hospital.
After completing the CNA program, the student may also be able to administer simple blood tests. In some nursing homes, the certified nurses assistant will also be allow to administer accuchecks, which are a type of finger stick blood test that checks for levels of glucose in the patient’s blood. This is a common test that is administered to diabetics. In addition, they are taught how to care for urinary catheters.
Opportunities for certified nursing assistants are numerous. As the population continues to age, more and more opportunities will become available for graduates of an accredited CNA program. Healthcare is a thriving industry and CNA’s will also enjoy the option of working in the home health industry as well, where they can work in a private duty health care setting.

How can you check to see if the victim is receiving your two rescue breaths?
As you administer each rescue breath look at their chest as you breathe in. You should see the chest rise if properly done. Remember to do a head-tilt-chin-lift if you do not suspect a head, neck or spinal injury and firmly pinch the nose closed. Breathe in only enough air to make the chest start to rise. If you breathe in too much it can cause air to go into the stomach resulting in vomiting.

My most recent trainer told us to do one breath with every twenty compressions (pumps) for adults, and one with every ten pumps for children or other persons under 100lbs. If you have a smaller lung capacity, for any reason, change the above numbers to one breath per ten and five pumps, respectively.
