Because during the summer, due to your hood absorbing much heat, it kills it. This is because naturally your vehicle puts out a lot of heat. But during the winter, your engine does not risk overheating because the air around it allows it stay nice and cool.
Why does 1993 Chevy Silverodo K1500 4x4 ext cab slip in overdrive?
Because your transmission is burning out. I have this exact same truck and the OD started to slip about 6 months before it and third gear finally went out completely. As it was slipping it had a bad tendency to "search" for a gear while cruising at 70 mph down the highway, and would constantly go back and forth and would slip into OD when it went. The tranny did have 160,000 miles on it, so I didnt complain when I had it totally rebuilt for $2,000.
How to install 1955 Chevy windshield wiper cables?
I learned the hard way that when new, the part of the system that protrudes from the cowel is "sprin loaded" when brand new. Be careful when installing the new replacements.
Remove the old parts from the cowel and the cables from under the dash.
Carefully install the new parts in the cowel. DO NOT PUSH DOWN ON THE END OF THE PART WHERE THE WIPER ARM INSTALLS.
Go under the dash and place the cableson the motor shaft and on the cowel part. When you are sure the cables are in the proper position, Go to the outside of the car and "push down on the end of the part where the wiper arm installs.
At that moment, a spring will engage which will tighten the cables under the dash. This is a one time loading of the spring and if you install the cables incorrectly, the new parts become useless. That is why it is not possible to use "junk yard parts" for the wiper assembly.
I went through two sets of these parts before a mechanic let me in on the "spring" secret.

What would cause bad gas mileage for a 2005 Chevy classic?
This question poses ALOT of potential responses.
1. The air filter could be dirty and need cleaning or replacement, only clean a cleanable filter, such as an Air Hog (r) TM or K&N, this is also a good time to upgrade to one of the cleanable filters.
2. As the seasons change there are many things that change as far as general performance. Heat i.e. hot air is less dense than cold, so your fuel is less efficient due to its volume being less dense, your gallon of gas in December is "more fuel" than in the dead of summer, additionally by the oxygen in the air being less dense it is less oxygen per volume than in the winter, this is why a deep breath in the winter feels more fulfilling than in the summer
3. The exhaust could have any number of issues, it could be an oxygen sensor, if you have a shop manual and a volt tester as well as a blow torch you can usually test this yourself by measuring voltage output or voltage resistance depending on the O2 sensor, the next issue could be a congested catalytic converter, or muffler. lastly has the piping of the exhaust suffered any dents or compressions, as the restriction of airflow out is as important as the restriction of airflow coming into the engine.
4. The spark plugs, or spark plug wires could be needing replacement or cleaning. again this is an opportune time to upgrade to a recommended performance plug that will spark hotter to allow more of the fuel in the cylinder to ignite and burn more effeciently, producing more horespower and torque, in turn reducing the ammount of rmp used to acieve optimal economy
5. the transmission needs to be regularly serviced, per the owners manual recomendations, it is well worth it to have the transmission fluid and filter changed or replaced regularly as recommended by the manufacturer, there is a significant loss of torque and horsepower already through the drivetrain when it is in pristene new condition, and as the fluids break down and the filter acumulates debris it becomes less efficient and needs to be given attention to reclaim the previous specification for power transfer
6. there are very simple things as well such as making sure your alignment is correct, your tire pressure is at the recommended level using either the label inside the drivers door or the pressure recommended on the sidewall of the tire, pay attention too though as it recomends the "cold pressure" i.e. when the tire is cold is when you should fill to the recommended pressure, this again goes with the density of air and the expansion due to increased atmospheric temperature. additionally if you fill your tires to xx psi in December, then in June the psi may have significantly increased, a way to combat this is to fill your tires with compressed nitrogen, as it is not effected by atmospheric temperature changes
7. the final recomendation is to make sure the oil is fresh and changed every 2750 to 4250 miles, or every 3-4 months on a regular schedule, do not re-use the oil filter unless it specifies that it is acceptable for xxxx miles. also consider using an additive in your fuel that will clean or remove carbon build up from the cylinder, cylinder head, walls, and passageways
What is the difference between a Chevy 400 and a Pontiac 400?
Basicly everything, The Chevy 400 is a member of the small block Chevy engine family and has a great deal of parts interchange with 265-350 chevys. (heads, intakes, distributors, water pumps, exhaust manifolds). The small block Chevy 400 has 4.40" bore spacing, a deck height of 9.025 and 2.65" main journals.
The Pontiac 400 is a member of the Pontiac V8 family and has interchangability with Pontiac V8s 287-455. (heads, intakes, waterpumps, distributors, exhaust manifolds). The Pontiac 400 is physically larger with a bore center of 4.62", a deck height of 10.23" and main bearing journals of 3.00".
The two engine families however have almost nothing in common, and almost no parts will interchange. The only thing they do have in common is the both share a 4.12 bore and 3.75 stroke. Pistons, crankshafts, and connecting rods, will NOT interchange due to design parameters. Both engines also require a specific transmission bellhousing since they do not share the same bolt pattern.

Why does my 2005 Chevy uplander DVD player only read disk error but won't play?
We had the same problem with ours, hopefully for the same reason. lol. Turns out the disk was too scratched for it to read it, or too damaged. It took us three different dvds before it worked, and yeah, they were a little damaged (not a lot, but enough I guess).

Chevy 5.7 liter rocker arm torque specs?
You don't torque rocker arms. you tighten them until the engine starts to stall/sputter; then you loosen them up a quarter turn.
With the engine at #1 TDC, adjust 1,2,5, & 7 intake and 1,3,4, & 8 exhaust for 0 backlash plus 1/4-1/2 turn, then rotate engine one revolution for #6 TDC and do the same with the rest of the valves. These instructions apply to hydraulic lifters only. For solid lifter cams, follow backlash specifications on the manufacturer's cam card.

Does 2005 Chevy Equinox have PCV valve?
Yes all vehicles have PCV Valves. On your Equinox you will need to remove the engine plastic cover that says Chevrolet 3.4L. You do this by disconnecting the electrical wire from the oil pump located on you left side and unscrew the entire oil fill spout. Then just remove the cover. On the bottom right on the valve cover you will see a metal bracket with a small hose coming out and going up to the intake manifold. Remove the hose and you will find the PCV Valve however I am still puzzled how to remove the metal bracket holding the pcv valve on. I suggest taking it into a service center to have it replaced. PCV valves for equinox's runs between $3-$5 but it will cost some labor to have it done at s service center so shouldn't be more than $30.

Change Chevy 4.3 liter oil pan gasket?
The model/year I did was a 02 Silverado 2wd auto trans. Raise the vehicle on either drive up ramps or a jack w/ stands on both sides of vehicle. Drain the oil and remove the filter; re install drain plug with new gasket. Remove 2 brackets that come across/under trans/oil pan area (or just loosen the forward ones and slide the brackets to the side. Center of oil pan there is a bigger bracket stemming across directly under the oil pan. 3 bolts each side, 2 running front to back and 1 you can see in a cut out/notch of the bracket (smaller head 16mm) pointing upward. Remove negative battery cable end from battery. Remove starter. Remove starter/trans shield-2-8mm bolts. Remove black plugs on lower part of transmission, they hide 2 bolts. Manual trans probably does not have that, should just be several bolts at base of trans running into the oil pan. Automatic trans had 2 bolts running through transmission into oil pan. Front of engine has 3 10mm bolts holding wire harness to engine, blocking oil pan bolts (maybe use a bungee cord to tie the harness away from pan area to make access easier and reassembly easier. Remove the 2 bolts running through trans, then remove the oil pan bolts (had 12 in all). Clean all mating surfaces good (brake cleaner solvent and rag and wire brush). At crankshaft ends make sure all rtv is clear and cleaned away. Squeeze from tube onto crankshaft ends (only where the old rtv was) about 1/4 to 1/2 bead to ensure better sealing. Let set for about 5 minutes or more- no more than 10 minutes depending on temperature outside (curing time). Reinstall oil pan and install couple bolts into front and rear of pan, don't lock down bolts yet. Must install trans bolts first to ensure straightness/alignment of pan and starter/trans shield while it's not torqued down yet. Now ok to install all other bolts and torque bolts from center forward then to rear using criss cross pattern (about 28 ft lbs of torque is adequate or just use good judgment not to strip threads). Thereafter installation is the reverse of removal. Don't forget the battery connection and the oil --Roughly 2.5 to 3 hours HAVE FUN!
What makes a Chevy 3100 v6 lose power at 50 to 55 mph?
The most common things to make a Chevy 3100 V6 to lose power at the 50 to 55 mph range is a clogged fuel filter or incorrect ignition timing. A lack of fuel will starve the engine, while incorrect timing will make them engine stumble.
