Can a cockroach have blue blood?

Cockroaches have blood, and are COLD-blooded creatures.

Cockroach blood is not red because they do not use hemoglobin to carry oxygen. In fact their bloodstream is not used to carry oxygen either. They use a system of pipes called tracheae to bring the oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from their tissues.

As a result other factors determine the blood color.

Male cockroaches have relatively colorless blood.

Larval females have colorless blood.

Only adult females which are producing eggs have a slightly orange blood because of the protein vitellogenin which is made in the cockroach liver (its fat body) and transported through the blood to the ovary. This protein like chicken yolk is orange because it carries a carotenoid, which is a vitamin A like molecule needed by embryos to develop normally.

Catnip can also be simmered in a small amount of water to make a "catnip tea" which can be used as a spray to apply around baseboards and behind counters. This natural repellent should only be used in homes without cats!

Do cockroaches die after giving birth?

yes it does, but if you try squishing it and then spray an insect killer they won't. (we killed lots of cockroaches, one we flushed it in the toilet. and one touched my sister toothbrush with it's mouth.)

No it does not. Although it is true that they lay their eggs before death, that is only half. Female roaches drop their eggs when they feel threatened and then run away. When the female runs it attracts her predator to her and not the eggs, therefore protecting it. There is really no way to sneak up on a roach because they have sensors that sense movement around them so it is alright to kill a roach but make sure to look for the egg from where it started running. (you can tell it is a female if it only has one pair of sensors on the front, the male has 2. so don't waste your time looking if its a male that you've squished.) it is best to spray the baseboards with insecticide, although roaches do mutate to become immune to the insecticide, so i would also buy roach bait witch is food that they bring to the nest so that they don't mutate much. also buy egg killers. egg killers attract females to lay their eggs on it not knowing its egg poison. roaches like to lay their eggs in warm dark places, so setting them in dark corners would hellp. I hope this helps you. good luck. (remember, I'm not an expert but i did experience this problem myself and the advice i have given worked perfectly for me, and my infestation was bad.)

Cockroaches can indeed swim, they can also hold their breath for 45 minutes. They breath through holes in their sides which rhythmically absorb air and release CO2, so coming up for air must be pretty hard! Cockroaches can actually perform what could be called "swimming" as they don't simply float on top of the water, but can propel themselves to some extent.

Is the cockroach the cleanest animal?

Cockroaches carry hundreds upon hundreds of nasty disgusting diseases. One of the main factors of causing asthma. Get rid of cockroaches with these effective ways...

A way to get rid of Cockroaches can be a variety of ways, for some in-expensive home made insecticides, you can mix baking soda and powdered sugar. The baking soda is extremely lethal to cockroaches. But,don't just put down baking soda cause cockroaches can sence it, and know to stay away from it. Since cockroaches love powdered sugar, the smell can over take the sences that can prevent the cockroach from killing them. But put together you get a very good remedy of insecticide. The baking soda and powdered sugar is only lethal to cockroaches so it won't kill your pets, (unless they are bugs or insects). Another is to just spray Kaboom on the live cock roach and it will die within a minute. Or you can just spray around cracks and crevices. But, be careful cause it is very poisonous to dogs and cats. So spray out of reach of children and pets.

BUT DON'T SPRAY ON WOOD FLOORING, OR IT WILL RUIN YOUR WOOD FLOOR!!!

So yes, cockroaches are dirty

Why is a roach called a cock-roach?

While the true origin of the name will probably forever be shrouded in mystery (a product of the long time that cockroaches have been plaguing our great civilization), a good number of prominent linguo-biologo-sociologists have suggested that the term cockroach originated in England in the nineteenth century. It was originally used to describe cigarette butts thrown out by members of the lower class, but transformed with the advent of modern shipping, and its progeny, cockroaches, no doubt another influence was probably the offense taken by the lower class at having their name, cockney, shortened as it was.

Other possibilities:

It could be a reference to their appearance. Cock is another name for a rooster, and a number of chickens are reddish-brown in appearance. The way they crawl is much like a rooster strutting. A "roach" is one of several species of fish. Wikipedia says the English term came from the Spanish term cucaracha, and thus does not derive from any terms related to roosters nor fish.
