What were the general disagrements among the countries of Europe in the1914?

World War I did not just start out of nowhere. It was truly a dispute between Austria-Hungary and Serbia that escalated into a larger war due to alliances. Austria-Hungary was aligned with Germany and Italy in a defensive military alliance (the Triple Alliance), after previously being aligned with Germany and Russia. Serbia was protected by Russia, a fellow Slav country, who was aligned with France and the UK (the Triple Entente).

Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia sometime after a Serbian terrorist group assassinated Austria's archduke, but not before having support from its ally, Germany. Serbia then called on Russia for assistance. Knowing that France was an ally of Russia, Germany created a plan in which they would cross through neutral Belgium, attack France, and then reroute all their troops to Russia. However, Belgium resisted German movement through their country, and since Germany violated the neutrality of Belgium, the UK declared war on Germany (as Belgium did too). Italy remained neutral as they called this war an offensive (and not defensive) for their allies, but later joined the Triple Entente after being promised Austrian land from the UK and France. The Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria joined the Triple Alliance and the other Balkan countries joined the Triple Entente, all hoping to gain back land or acquire more land in the Balkans. The US later joined the Triple Entente officially, after having supported them by supplying the UK especially with aid, after the Germans sunk a British cruise liner containing hundreds of American passengers.
