Although some years ago there were thought to be several types (species) of discus and all were given different 'taxonomic' names, DNA research has now proven that there are only two types (species) of discus. These two species are Symphysodon discus and Symphysodon aequefasciata. The former is known as the "Heckel" and is quite hard to keep and breed and the latter (S. aequefasciata) is the one that the commercial breeders (mainly in Tropical Asia) have had a lot of fun with and produced all the fancy colours like the one you refered to as the "Turquoise Discus". Genetically a "Turquoise Discus" is the same as a "Pidgeon Blood" is the same as a "Marlboro Red". They are all S.aequefasciata.

If you are using the feeder fish to feed other fish with then I would toss them right away. If you plan on keeping them a while then I would treat your tank with fungus treatment or parasite treatment. More then likely they have one or the other. I would not let any of your more expensive fish eat them and take the risk of losing your bigger fish over a 10c fish. I got some feeders today and when I got home I noticed they all had bumps either on them or inside them and the feeders are for my big oscar and flowerhorn fish and i took the fish back because i wasn't about to risk losing my other fish. If the neon is in a tank with other neons then there is a good chance it will grow back. If your neon is in with other fish and larger fish there is a very good chance it will be eaten "Big Fish Eat Little Fish".

Try your local pet or department store. There should be an area just for fish and packaged "fish food" that most home fish would eat just fine. There are a few different types, but it should be clear on the packaging what size and type of fish the food is made for. If you happen to have a more or less exotic fish (something above and beyond the usual Goldfish or other commonly available pet fish from the store) you may wish to check with a greater authority on that particular species.

If u mean the fish that get thrown out, they just sink to the bottom of the ocean and rot and get eaten, but since they were wasted and if this happens alot the things that the fish eats have more and more babies and it messes up the food chain
