In my opinion, to have a "pure" heart is to actually try and live the life that is discussed in the Bible. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Your intentions should be for the right reasons and not for purposes of manipulation or self-satisfaction. You continue to treat people good even if they are treating you bad. For example, I worked with a group of people who were about the nastiest bunch of people I've ever met. Selfish, manipulating, back-stabbing, gossiping and making up rumors about each other, lying to bosses about the new girl - me because they felt threatened with their jobs. From the very beginning I was polite, professional, and would smile and say hello when passing them in the office. I could never treat someone the way that they treated people - the way that they treated me and others. I did however get out of there as quick as I could. I knew it was a bad situation but I had lost my previous job that I dearly loved. I was without a job for almost a year when I accepted this one. I knew it would be bad but it was far worse than I could have imagined. The job I had before it was awesome so it was an enormous adjustment to be working someplace like that. I had so much respect for my previous employer and I fell to the bottom of the barrel with the next job even though it was in the same line of work. It was very difficult for a number of reasons. I felt as if I had fallen emotionally, mentally, spiritually. I felt broken. But, all you can do is your best and when you realize it's a bad situation, look for something else. You try to do the right thing in life because it's the right thing to do. Help someone because they need help - not because you think you may have something to gain from it. Never be cruel to animals but instead take care of them - they depend on humans for protection and care. When your heart is pure, you are not cruel and mean to others. You stand up for yourself but that can be done in a manner that is not mean spirited. It's hard to explain but basically someone with a pure heart tries to live their live with goodness for everything in their heart, not pretentious, not manipulating, not cruel or mean, you don't take people for granted, you are not cruel or mean to anything or anyone. When it's all said and done, hopefully you will have love, peace in your life, and happiness.
