Can indoor fantail goldfish be put outside in a pond?
Yes, but you need to make sure you do not shock the fish when you change the water temperature. To do this properly; you need to put the fish in a plastic bag with water from the aquarium it is in, put the bag with the fish in it on the water of the pond, the fish and bag will float on top. Leave this there for about an hour before opening the bag and pouring the fish gently into the pond. Make sure there is plenty of water in the bag that the fish can swim in if the bag floats sideways to prevent any injury to the fish.
What temperature do mollies like the water in their fish bowl?
Water temperature in the aquarium should be kept in the 75-80 F range.
Do goldfish get along with snails?
Yes they do. I went & looked in my tank the other day and saw my snail on the gravel then i went back 20 minutes later and my snails shell was on its back with the shell empty. I then looked in the tank again 5 minutes later and one of my comet goldfish was vomiting up my snail :(

What to do to cure a swim bladder in a goldfish?
Sometimes this cannot be fixed if it has gone on for too long, or if it is, it may be temporary.
You will need to ensure that your tank water is very clean, and you will need to stop feeding your goldfish for 3 days to give it's system a rest. Next, you need to feed it cooked & de-shelled peas 2 times a day for 3 days (it will not be very many peas over those 3 days) with a small grain of epsom salt in one of the pieces of pea each day. Peas and epsom salt are a form of laxatives for goldfish and should help them clear out their system.
Swim bladder is commonly caused by constipation, but in some cases, it's a faulty swim bladder for that particular fish.

It is quite possible that the Convict cichlid would kill a fish as small and slow as a Betta. I would not try to mix other peaceful species with large aggressive fish like Convicts.

Goldfish do not come into 'heat' they simply come into breeding condition around springtime. Provided they are in a large enough tank/pond and all the other requirements are met regarding their health and condition they usually spawn when temperatures rise to around 70F-75F. You can not filter a tank too much. The more filter media you have, the better your tank water will be. You can however create too much current for the species of fish you have in there. Most of the larger and better power filters have some method of turning them down to reduce flow.

What are important things to know about your goldfish?
Goldfish are really pond fish. They need plenty of room to swim and grow in. A goldfish will never do well in a bowl. All fish need at least 1 gallon of water per 1 inch of fish. This water needs to be filtered properly and kept clean. It also needs to be changed regularly. Goldfish are omnivorous so they need some protein in their diet in addition to the stuff sold as goldfish food in pet shops. Feed them at least morning and evening. Never ever let food go rotten in the water. The main thing to remember is that water to a fish is the same as air is to us. If it is bad or dirty it will make us/them sick. If it is really bad or dirty it will kill us/them. So look after their water conditions and they should be OK provided they get properly fed.

How big of a tank do you have to have for a Betta fish?
Whether male or female, ALL BETAS SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO FIGHT. Betas are highly aggressive with one another, and are very territorial. A period of mating is not an exception, and can still result in an injured fish.
As a general rule, one beta will be healthier NOT sharing its life with another beta. Forcing two betas to share an environment may result in severe and even life-threatening injuries.
No matter how large the tank, eventually the betas will inevitably find their way into the same area, and when they do, you'll have Mortal Kombat 3 in your fish tank.
Moreover, even if they merely saw one another from far, far, opposite sides of the tank, it's extremely (VERY!) likely that at least one of the two betas (if not both) would actually find the other enough of a threat to put itself immediately into the other's space and engage in aggressive activity.
If you're asking because you really want to own more than one beta, there are other solutions that are slightly preferrable (although some may still be somewhat upsetting to the betas).
If you really, really just want more betas, the best solution is to buy those small plastic containers sold at places like Petsmart, containers that are meant for betas; the single-celled containers are a less stressful environment for the betas, because you can separate them so they won't antagonize each other.
However, stores also sell larger containers with a divider in the middle, which leaves room for two betas.
Large glass fish bowls are also a novel idea, because they have plenty of room for pretty rocks, air pumps, castles, and the like.
If your main concern is about your beta's happiness or you wonder whether it is lonely, ask me for more information about things you can add to a beta's tank for recreation (such as an air pump, live plants, structures to hide in, etc.). There are quite a few things that can very much add to your beta's quality of life.

It takes 2 or 3 months for a houshold pet goldfish to mature, you can tell if it's a female by that time because they will have some white speckles on their lower fins. Plus, though the common goldfish lives for about 2 days in a bowl, but if you get a 10 gallon tank for it and feed it every morning and night until it's mature, then once a day when it's mature, it can live for a long time; I had a goldfish that I cared for ( the pet goldfish not pond goldfish), and it lived for 9 years! ( It just died :( ) But look for red and/or white spots, split fins, or enlarged eyes as these can be deadly but simply buying medicine from the pet store will save your pets life.
