A large growing fish belonging to the Carp family. Colour can vary from solid orange, yellow, white or black to multi colours, such as a white base with red and black blotches. The body is chunky and rounded with relatively large visible scales. Healthy Goldfish are long-living fish which should achieve over 10-15 years in good care, some to around 20-40 years old.

Common Goldfish should get between 10"-12" in body length, Fancies between 5"-10" in body length. Lengths exclude the tail fin.

that depends on the size of your tank ....my tank is not very huge and has 9 fishes in them plus a filter so it takes about a month and a half to get dirty.my tank is only about 20 inches long and 10 inches wide.

Goldfish will sometimes do this if their living conditions are not large enough? They also do it if they are looking for a partner to spawn with. Are you doing the right thing by your fish? If you wish to be successful, and give yourself a chance at keeping your fish alive, you will supply the following necessities :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a fully cycled filter running permanently. :- Every tank must have 50% of its water replaced every week. Follow the above rules and your fish will stand a chance of survival. Fail to follow them and I can guarantee that your fish will have constant health problems. If you are complying with the above, then the fish are looking to spawn, and if you are not complying, you should improve the fishes living conditions and give them what is required.

Your 'nominally' 90 litre tank, will actually be holding around 80 litres when you subtract the top inch of the tank that never is filled. You can subtract even more for displacement by gravel and rocks etc.if you have them. Then by applying the basic rules of fish keeping your absolute maximum stocking rate would be 35cm of fish. The basic rules and calculation for keeping any kind of fish are. 2.25cm of fish needs a minimum of 2.25 ltrs of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. Every tank need to have at least 50% of it water changed evey week. Comply with the above rules and your fish stand a chance of surviving. Fail to comply with them and I can guarantee that your fish will have constant health problems.

it is always good to get some kind of filter for your fish, but natural ponds dont' always need one. the filters will keep out some bad bacteria though, and keep your fish healthy longer, and allow you to actually see them. goldfish are very hardy and can withstand quite a bit.

If theyre different types of goldfish, check theyre suitable to live with each other. If they are, then theyre just fighting over space because the tanks too small. If that's the case, get a bigger one asap. Remember one goldfish needs 10 gallons of water >_< So a couple will need a LOT!!

Well the chemicals in the coloring can hurt the goldfish so it is not safe to have food die in a goldfishes tank!:p Hope that helps!

If there has been a normal goldfish spawning frenzy there will be many of both fertilised and unfertilised ova. The ones that go white and are most visible within 36 hours are the infertile ones. The ones you don't/can't see easily because they are almost transparent are the good fertilised ones. Be patient. In a few weeks, provided the adults don't eat them all, you will see tiny fry (they look like small slivers of glass) wriggling and swimming around the edges of plants and algae. Good luck with them.

with a sample size of 20 goldfish, i found that 35% were smiling...until i bit their heads off. goldfish!

One thing you can do is make the water colder than heat it up so it feels like hibernation .Also feed your fish a little more than usual and introduce them.

Maybe, the impact of the toilet flush may kill it. You never know.

You would need to put goldfish eggs in a separate tank, and yes, you may have to take the goldfish eggs out of the main tank where all the goldfish are, because the adult goldfish will eat the eggs. However, you can just cover the goldfish eggs in a plastic see-through box while being inside of the main tank if you don't want to take it out, just in case you may harm it, and the fish won't be able to eat it.

yes mine has ate goldfish almost his whole life now hes up to 20 every two weeks he also eats fish food but if he doesnt get goldfish he will not eat fish food until he gets his goldfish and the books say its ok

From numerous websites, I've seen answers that range from 50 gallons, 100 gallons and as much as 1000 liters (260+ gallons)! I use the 100 gallons per koi estimate and have had no problems for the past 4 years of having my pond. if the goldfish is smaller then the head of the turtle, it will eat it! if it is bigger then half of the shell it will be fine but not if your turtle gets bigger. if the fish is to big to eat but small enough for your turtle to target, it may kill it, or try to eat it and choke, killing your turtle.

That is most likely a string of feces hanging off of your goldfish. It will break off eventually.

This is going to depend on if the black spot was part of it's colouring when you first got your fish, or if it appeared at some point while in your tank, and went away at some point after you did a water change.

If it's the second part, then that would be an ammonia burn which is caused by poor water quality in the tank.
