If you have an actual bowl and not an aquarium, then you would not want to be putting a lid on. Goldfish bowls have very small surface area for the water and that affects how much oxygen your fish can get. They actually aren't that good for them. Putting a lid on would reduce this even further. Aquariums can be covered with glass especially supplied, although it won't be a complete cover.

If you are taking tropical fish in an aquarium it is best to keep the temperature as steady as possible. But if that is not possible they still should survive but not for a long long time. Yes it is. It pretty much means that you haven't kept your tank clean enough for your fish. In fish food, there is a large amount of ammonia in it. Your fish doesn't eat all the food you put in the tank and even of you have a filter, it doesn't neccesarily mean that your tank is really clean, it only helps. So, in other words, it's ammonia burns on your fish! Sooooo CLEAN It! After it settles into some new CLEAN water, it'll go back to normal. Justremember to change the water at least once a week. It's not good for your fish to live like thy for a period of time or it happen alot.

the important thing is that there is oxygen in the water. i achieved this by digging a half metre deep pond in the garden (hoping this is deep enough to not completely freeze in our winters), covering with tarpaulin (you're supposed to have a carpet underlay and overlay to stop the plastic photo-degrading and make it last for years). i filled it with tap water and left it a couple of days to let the fluorine evaporate. then i went to my local pond and got lots of completely submerged plants to oxygenate the water for a week. i also added floating water plants from the pond to provide some cover from sunlight in areas and some marginals with roots in the water to plant round the edges to provide protection and stagnant water for insect larvae which the goldfish feed on. i added lots of pond water-snails to eat dead leaves which have formed a mulch. i bought some shrimp to breed in the pond for food too. i added the goldfish by leaving their bag in the water for an hour before opening it so they could acclimatise to the temperature. one week later and 5 of my 6 baby goldfish look healthy; they have perky sticky-outy fins, swim quickly and are growing much more quickly than i thought they would, their gills are not moving too fast and they are not gulping oxygen from the surface of the water. one looks floppy and lethargic at the bottom of the pond. (aside on my injured fish: i mistakenly poured the fish out of the bag into the pond, leaving one fish trapped and struggling in the plastic in the bag without any water for a second. i think fish injure easily and should have put the opened bag in the water and let the fish swim out. blood-worms from the pet shop have made short work of the dead carcass and my now larger goldfish eat them ravenously, though i really should have quarantined the injured fish. the excess of plants absorbing nitrates and plant cover not allowing much sunlight into the water mean the pond is still clear and i have no algae, though i suppose algae would oxygenate the water too. i find green water unsightly and like to watch the fish.)

Yes, it can. Once in awhile you have to check if your goldfish is making beeping sounds, if so you have to soak it in lemon juice to stop the beeping noise,or else the fish will explode on you (you will be covered in fish guts) so be sure to check your goldfish once in awhile (possibly every second)

Well yes, you can but only if it is little,, because I have two a big one and a little one. The smaller one is in a five gallon tank but eventually they get big so they will need to be moved into a bigger tank, but if you have a small one then it should be fine for the time being.

Sounds like he might be a bit sick. what king of fish is it and how big is the tank? try taking out 3/4 of the water and putting fresh water in. Go buy some tests to check the water ph, ammonia , nitrites and nitrates and make sure those are ok. Some fish need to be kept in groups or they'll be scared and try to hide. I bought my fish tank on the Sunday and then got home added the water and the aquarium conditioner and left over night so ruffle about 12-15hours and then bought the Goldfish the next day and gradually added water to the bag the fish come in every 5-10mins so they get used to your tank/pond water. the man in the fish shop said to me i should have waited to leave the water in the tank to settle for 4-5days before adding fish but mine are ok so as long as you have made sure you have filters running and have cleaned the tank and added your conditioner to the water, your goldfish should be fine:) don't feed to much, i do mine every other day, but like i would give them couple of pellets now and again they like that

The density of a fish is much smaller than the density of water, therefore the fish does not sink, but it should float. The only thing that keeps the fish from floating to the surface are their swim bladders. They are organs inside the fish that contain gas to balance out the density of the fish and make the fish achieve neutral buoyancy and stay in the water.

your over feeding your fish. Only feed it 3-4 pellets 2 times a day. If the cloud comes back try feeding it less. but do not under feed your fish.
