Why is there referred shoulder pain with cholecystitis?

This occurs as a result of a concept called?referred pain. ?Essentially, as the signal for pain is sent from the gall bladder to the spinal cord, it gets mixed up with signals from the back of your right shoulder. ?This results in the brain getting the signal that you have pain in the right shoulder blade. ?There is absolutely no pathology in the right shoulder, it is simply a misinterpretation on the part of the nervous system. ?The same process occurs when a person has a heart attack and they perceive left arm or jaw pain. ?In this second scenario the patient has absolutely nothing wrong with their left arm, their brain just perceives that cardiac pain as occurring in the arm.

What is the reason for pain when you have a loss of disc height?

There are 22 vertebral discs in the spine that act as shock absorbers for the nerve system, as well as to separate the two vertebrae that they are located between. When all is working as it should the spinal nerves and the spinal cord will protected and function as they should.

If a spinal disc becomes thinner than it should, and loses its normal height, it will not function well to absorb shock and it will allow the two bones it is placed between to come closer together. This will allow the spinal nerves to receive more impact and shock from normal daily activity and it will make the normal nerve passageway for the spinal nerve smaller than it should be. These changes allow nerve compression to occur, and this can cause pain and other symptoms like numbness, weakness and and muscle spasm. The pain that is felt can be pain near the spine where the disc is thinner or the pain can occur anywhere along its length, or both.

How long does it take for sprained toe to heal?

Well it depends mostly on your age, your overall health, and how it is treated. First, broken toes cannot be put in a cast. At most, the broken toe is loosely taped to the next toe. Second, ice should be applied and the foot kept elevated. The person should not try to walk on that foot for at least the first full week.

If you are a child through young healthy adult and have followed the recommended treatment, it will take up to 6 weeks or sooner. An adult can take longer than 6 weeks but some adults may have lingering pain and swelling for even months. Older adults can re-break the same toe many times.
