You cannot - unless there is some other information. For example, that the triangle is isosceles, or that one of the shorter sides is related to the other is some way. Or there is another triangle (or other shape) from which you can work out one of the sides.

He and his followers believed that each number was a god, and worshipped them, wacky huh. although perfectly understandable another Egyptian mathmatician thought to be ahmes wrote that the scroll he had written (containing mathematical operations) And i quote(well translated anyway) "the scroll gives an acurate knowledge of all things, mysteries...all secrets"

No one really knows for sure because records were so shifty. Many informational websites and biographies of Pythagoras' life say that Pherekydes was an influential teacher of his that taught philosophy.
