Radiators

A radiator is a heating device that consists of a series of pipes where steam or fluid circulates. There are different types of radiators, namely hot water, steam, fan-assisted, under-floor heating, and electric baseboard.

Why is the engine overheating but the radiator is in good condition?

Could be a number of reasons from minor to major problems. Could be as simple as a faulty thermostat, faulty fan clutch (if applicable), missing or damaged fan shroud or more serious problems like a cracked head or bad head gasket.

What is the recommended radiator cap pressure?

The answer depends on the machine. The cap pressure will likely be different between a Corvette and a tractor or even between models of the same make. My suggestion would be to visit an auto supply store and simply look up the recommended cap for your vehicle.

What does an overflow container do?

An overflow container prevents coolant loss. As coolant heats it expands. Without the tank, excess coolant would be forced from the radiator and be dumped on the ground. As coolant cools it is drawn back into the radiator so it always stays full.

How can you remove and replace the radiator on a 2002 sequoia?

The radiator on a 2002 Toyota Sequoia can be removed and replaced by first draining the coolant. The cooling hoses can then be disconnected, the retaining bolts removed, and the radiator pulled from the vehicle.

Can you fill water daily in radiator?

You can add water to a radiator any time it is low on water.

Will plain water cause your car to overheat?

No, but it will cause other problems.

Water is actually the best possible coolant, better than the normal 50-50 concentration of water and coolant. Here's the problem (or several actually).

1. Water alone doesn't contain any rust or scale inhibitors. Coolant does and will help prevent clogging and deterioration of the system.

2. Water will freeze at 32 degrees F expanding and possibly cracking radiator tubes and in extreme cases even engine blocks.

Coolant isn't expensive so rather than risk damage it's best to follow car manufacturer recommendations for the type and amount to use. Add distilled water to the coolant then forget about it for another year or two.

How much does a radiator for Toyota Camry 2004 going for?

I visited Radiator.com and discovered there are three radiators for that year Camry. The price for both the 3.3 and 3.0 Liter 6 cylinder is $126. The price for the 2.4 Liter 4 cylinder is $113. You should check your local auto supply stores for their pricing. Another option that's usually about half the price is a junkyard. It shouldn't be too hard to find a Camry that's been T-boned or rear-ended with a good radiator. The year is recent enough that there shouldn't be any corrosion issues.

When should you put radiator flush to the cooling system of the car?

every 5 years or 100,000 miles you can flush the cooling system ,

drain the system firset , fill with water , add the flush and let the car run until it reaches normal operating temp ( 180-210) , let the car cool down and then drain the water and the flush liquid out , fill up the radiator with the new coolant , a 50/50 mix , make sure you let all the air out , there should be air breathing points that you can let loose till all air is out

What activates cooling fan for radiator?

Why will water not circulate through cooling system on vehicle?

You might have a blockage somewhere, or you might need to replace the thermostat.

Will a 1998 Subaru legacy radiator fit a 1996 Subaru lagacy?

The radiator should be the same for all 95-99 model year Subaru Legacys. If I remember correctly, the upper and lower radiator hoses can be different, though, depending on the engine (i.e. EJ22 vs. EJ25) or Legacy version (i.e. Outback, etc.).

How do you bleed the air out of a cooling system on a 1997 Chevy lumina?

Set heater on high, keed car running. Some recommend running the car with the radiator cap removed until it stops bubbling. Another suggestion is to remove cap from recovery tank and squeeze upper radiator hose a few times after coolant is up to temp (car still running). Others also combine this with having the front of the car on an incline or jacked up. The proper way is to use the bleeder screw(s) on the front of the engine. A post I read a long time ago said to run with open bleeder screw until coolant comes out. Another said to attach a hose to bleeder and run until no bubbles in coolant. Regardless: If you use the bleeder screw be careful. It is brass and VERY easy to bust the screw head off. Voice of experience here. Go easy with it when opening.

How do you remove an RX8 radiator?

Quick note this is not an easy project know what your getting yourself into and read first. You have to remove the air intake, battery, ecu box and then battery tray. ( the battery tray cannot be removed less the ecu box is taken out because of 2 bolts that reside beneath it and 2 right next to it under the coolant hose. (Remove the front bumper) The coolant must be drained from underneath (plastic screw, location can be found by locating the circle cutout in the splash guard in front end. This drain will spill out at least 4 gallons so have a container ready. From the top remove the large coolant hose from directly behind the front brace. After this remove the splash guards covering the front end (you must partially remove the wheel well splash guard to access two bolts that hold in the main front splash guard. From the front of the radiator remove the metal guard it has 4 bolts 2 at the base and two at the top behind the frame. It will drop. Then remove the two metal brackets located on the left and right side both are labeled left and right (same general location) 2 bolts per bracket. Now from the top remove the 2 bolts that sit beneath the front frame behind the fan shroud that hold the radiator. Then from the bottom of the car pull free the large coolant line (note you did not previous drain the entire coolant system so when removing the large hose have a bucket ready for a few cups of coolant) and then push upward on the radiator to jostle it free it will then drop. If it's an automatic the transmission fluid lines will need to be removed in edition. Which means draining it and doing a fluid change. Also note after this you need to bleed the coolant so that there are no air pockets in the system. Hope this helps.

What source of energy does a radiator use?

A radiator typically uses thermal energy to heat a space. It is often connected to a central heating system that produces heat from sources such as gas, oil, or electricity, which is then circulated through the radiator to warm the room.

How do i bleed air out of radiator on my 1997 eclipse?

What I did was let the engine cool down then open the radiator cap and turn on the engine. Let the engine idle for about 10-15 min to make sure it had circulated the coolant. Between those 15 min you should see bubbles and that's bleeding the radiator you're removing the air, and this is how I did it because after a radiator flush I left the engine off when I poured the new antifreeze and it was over heating but now that a let the air out it's much better.
