The Cobras of Africa and Asia spread the ribs at the top of the spine to for the characteristic 'hood' when threatened.

What organism is the secondary consumer leaf caterpillar lizard or snake?
The secondary consumer in this context would typically be the leaf caterpillar lizard, as it feeds on primary consumers like insects. Snakes can also be secondary consumers, but they are generally more versatile in their diet, consuming both primary consumers and other secondary consumers. Thus, if the primary consumers are herbivores or insects, the leaf caterpillar lizard fits the role of a secondary consumer more directly.
My understanding of this process is that a snake will shed it's skin when it grows to the point the skin stretches beyond it's limits and is replaced by a new skin that accompanies the new size of the reptile. The frequency of the shedding process is directly linked to the feeding amount done by the snakes owner. Snakes are typically feed every 7 to 10 days but can be feed more to provide "power feeding" and therefore causing the snake to grow more rapidly. Keeping the snakes enclosure humid will help the skinning process as will placing a rough rock or item within the enclosure for the reptile to rub against. Usually the first indication of a snake that is about to shed is what is called eye caps appearing. The eyes will get a dull film look to them and does hamper the snakes vision. Snakes are more apt to strike an owner (on purpose or even accidently) during the eye cap phase due to his inability to properly see and it's nervousness resulting there of.
It varies ! Young snakes will shed more frequently than older ones, as they do most of their growing in the first five years. As they get older, they don't grow as fast so they don't need to shed as often.
Raccoons will eat whatever their environment provides. In the rural environment, they eat insects, nuts, worms, frogs, shellfish, fish, mammals, birds, eggs, grubs, snakes, and fruits. So yes they do eat Snakes
The Western Ribbon Snake is found in North and Central America in freshwater habitats.
How do you kill a 2ft black snake?
The fastest way to killl any snake is by cutting or chopping off its head. OR you could try this: I just killed a 2.5ft Copperhead that was in my garage ... it ran across my wife feet and stayed by the door to the house (I had seen skinks there earlier - food source!). I boiled several pots of water and poured them on the snake... it moved very slowly until it died. It was not going to leave and I had to make sure that it was dead.. I thought bleach, bug spray... something heavy but the boiling water did the trick... hated it but I have small children and pets ... no compromise!! Too bad that won't work on Progressives!! M
Proper euthanasia technique (so as to not put the animal in any more pain than necessary), is a quick death- a chop of the neck, or a well aimed blow to the head. Lethal injection is also legal. By the way, why do you want to kill it? If there were a small snake in my yard I would be glad that I don't have to deal with mice.
All of these are terrible, cruel ways to kill a snake. The quickest, most humane way to kill them is destroying the brain. Their slow metabolisms make injections and poisons take a long time to work, and chopping off the head doesn't kill them right away either. Also, it is cruel to dump boiling water on ANY animal, how could that ever be seen as an ok way to kill something?

Can you hide from a snake in mud?
I would say properly not because when you breve you stomach moves up and down also making you move up and down so if you are ling down in mud it would probably make no difference as if you wont ling down in it. Bit if you were anorexic it might make a difference because there would be less stomach to move up and down.
