I would have to say that that valuation is way too high.

I have just purchased a collectors item Olds Mendez serial number 86xxx from Ebay, which was manufactured in 1952 and is in reasonable used condition with original laquer for $800.

The serial number 308xxx would have been manufactured around 1958 to 1964 after the factory moved from LA. Your Mendez appears on the Olds register and is dated 1959.

I play the Horn, which uses completely different valves. However, I did play learn trumpet and I played it for a while a few years ago, so I think I can help you with this.

I don't think putting too much oil in your trumpet is going to completely destroy it. I don't recommend knowingly overdoing it, but just put in what you need to fix the problem. If you put in too much, it'll just drip out the bottom of the pistons anyway. As far as I'm aware, any other issues with valves aren't affected by the overuse of oil.

The 606MR has a rose brass bell, which means that it has a higher resistance to corrosion. The red brass also gives it a different tonal sound.

The 606MR is a beautiful horn that can be used in almost ANY band playing situation. I have been playing for 4 years now with over 25 bands and I would rather play the 606MR than a Bach Strad (A pro level trumpet)

I'm not sure what your question was... so I'll assume you're asking about the way to properly transpose Bass music (again, string bass, or what?).

Bass is a C, non-transposing instrument, and trumpet is a Bb transposing instrument in a higher clef, so you'll need to start on the note written for bass, write it one or two octaves higher to the same note in the treble clef, and then move it up two half steps for the trumpet to play the same sounding note as the bass. (obviously a few octaves higher)

It depends on several factors. What kind of trumpet is it and what kind of condition? If it is a rare brand, it may be worth thousands of dollars. If it is a common brand, it may not be worth much. Just know what year it was made doesn't provide enough information.

This will depend on each player and their individual level of expertise and skill. A pretty average range for a student player would be from middle C to about an octave and a half up (C4 to G5). Professionals, of course, will continue to wail away, spanning multiple octaves with ease.

If you contact a reputable instrument repair shop in your area, they can likely either tell you how much it would be worth, or give you a rough estimate.

A natural trumpet is a trumpet played without valves. It is typically straight (not curved like a modern trumpet). The notes are changed using the lip muscles, aided by some holes drilled in the trumpet (although the holes are mostly used for fine tuning the instrument).
