In general, it doesn't make any real difference other than the looks, and the polishing cloth. Unless you are a top level pro, I doubt you can tell the difference in playing between the two (and the pros argue whether or not even they can).

The trumpet can only (easily) play one tone at a time. If you're wanting to play chords you will need to hum, or 'growl' a note a fifth above the note you are playing, and through that the third will come out. Making the chord complete. This takes a LOT of practise.

You will probably want to use a tool called a mouthpiece puller. Chances are good that your band director has such a tool (but that costs about $150-200 US dollars to buy).
You can try using brute strength, but that may damage your trumpet. A mouthpiece puller does the job without causing any damage.

You can also just wait for your trumpet too cool down for 5-10 minuets or so because metal expands when its warm, you probably have been playing for a long time. That happened to me earlier today and my brother was kicking me for it because he thought I broke it forever! lol. If this doesn't work, take it to the wood wind and reed shop or any other music repair shop and they will take it out for you for £7.00 (ish)
This is really simple! First put an ice pack or a napkin of ice on the place where the mouthpiece and receiver connect. Leave it there for a little while (this will let the metal expand freeing the mouthpiece). After 5-10 minutes start turning the mouthpiece counter clockwise and it should come out very easily. If this still does not work tap the edge where the mouth piece and receiver connect VERY CAREFULLY!!!!!!! DO NOT HIT THE WINDPIPE HIT THE EDGE OF THE RECEIVER WHERE THE PIPE IS A LITTLE THICKER OR HAS PADDING. Then turn counterclockwise and that should do it. If it still does not work your mouthpiece has been severely jammed and you will have to take to repair shop to get fixed (but this technique works 9 out of 10 times). Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!
