Can you take Flexeril and Tylenol PM?

That is something you should speak with your DR or pharmacist about. Assuming you have no other conditions that Tylenol PM or Flexoril will interfere with the short answer is yes. I have done it and lived to tell.

Can you take Tylenol and methocarbamol?

Yes.

However you should NOT mix NSAIDS - Motrin (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen), etc. with aspirin. Tylenol can be safely mixed with many other drugs including aspirin & narcotics that do not already contain Tylenol (acetaminophen).

But ALWAYS check with your doctor or pharmacist first!

Can you take Children's Tylenol that is out of date?

Type your answer here... You can take Tylenol which is out of date for a short time, if the Tylenol has been kept refrigerated, tightly sealed and very dry. Otherwise, it should be disposed of.

How does Tylenol help you?

Tylenol (paracetamol) has a Wikipedia entry (reference 1). Under "Mechanism of Action," you will find the following:

"Paracetamol has long been suspected of having a similar mechanism of action to aspirin because of the similarity in structure. That is, it has been assumed that paracetamol acts by reducing production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the pain and fever processes, by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme.

However, there are important differences between the effects of aspirin and those of paracetamol. Prostaglandins participate in the inflammatory response, but paracetamol has no appreciable anti-inflammatory action. Furthermore, COX also produces thromboxanes, which aid in blood clotting - aspirin reduces blood clotting, but paracetamol does not. Finally, aspirin and the other NSAIDs commonly have detrimental effects on the stomach lining, where prostaglandins serve a protective role, but paracetamol is safe.

Indeed, while aspirin acts as an irreversible inhibitor of COX and directly blocks the enzyme's active site, paracetamol indirectly blocks COX, and that this blockade is ineffective in the presence of peroxides.[2] This might explain why paracetamol is effective in the central nervous system and in endothelial cells but not in platelets and immune cells which have high levels of peroxides.

In 2002 it was reported that paracetamol selectively blocks a variant of the COX enzyme that was different from the then known variants COX-1 and COX-2.[3] This enzyme, which is only expressed in the brain and the spinal cord, is now referred to as COX-3. Its exact mechanism of action is still poorly understood, but future research may provide further insight into how it works.

A single study has shown that administration of paracetamol increases the bioavailability of serotonin (5-HT) in rats,[4] but the mechanism is unknown and untested in humans."

In other words, it probably works by blocking a COX (cyclooxygenase) enzyme, similar to the action of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs), like "Aleve."

Can you take tramadol and Tylenol at the same time?

It depends. Some forms of tramadol already have acetaminophen in them. It is important that you check to be sure your prescription does not already have acetaminophen in it. If your prescription for tramadol is only tramadol, and you are absolutely certain there is no acetaminophen in it, then yes, they work well together. However if you are in doubt or are not absolutely sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Old answer: Yes, if your liver is healthy enough.

Can you take tramadol prior to surgery?

I would have to say yes, I have taken it before my surgery and had no issues. You may have to check with your Dr though if you are instructed not to take anything that thins your blood. Tramadol is not a blood thinner it is an opiate antagonist which means in simple terms is like an opiate but without giving you much of a high...in simple terms it fills in the gaps of what an opiate would do in the brain in some ways. Its a pain killer for mild to moderate pain as far as I am aware. It is better to check with your Dr though for all matters and depending on the surgery my advice might not be right for you?

Is acetaminophen an anti-inflammitory drug?

No, acetaminophen (Tylenol) has pain relieving and fever reducing (antipyretic) properties, not anti-inflammatory properties. Over the counter anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and aspirin.

Can I take ibuprofen and Tylenol while being pregnant?

Ibuprofen during PregnancyOne thing that almost all doctors agree on: do NOT take ibuprofen in the third trimester of your pregnancy, particularly after about 32 weeks. Ibuprofen can cause the ductus arteriosis to close prematurely. The DA is vital to fetal circulation and should close in the first 24 hours after birth. Ibuprofen is used to help close it when it stays open past 24 hours (PDA).

Before 32 weeks, things are a bit more controversial.

A lot of doctors would probably advise against taking ibuprofen early in pregnancy (during the first 8 weeks or so), simply because we know that that that is when your baby's organs are being formed and ibuprofen has never been scientifically proven to be safe at that time. (It may or may not be. We really don't yet know for sure.)

Between those two time periods (i.e. approximately 8 and 32 weeks gestation), a lot of us think that occasional ibuprofen use is reasonably safe, at least if it is used only in small doses (say, 200 to 400 mg, maybe even 600 mg once or twice) and only for limited amounts of time.

There aren't any super-clear guidelines that I know of, but I would definitely recommend that you avoid using ibuprofen regularly during pregnancy, for instance for chronic headaches or anything like that.

no coz it can harm the baby but after you have given birth yeah

It is recommended to NOT take Ibuprofen. What is safe though is Tylenol

Can I take Tylenol with Celebrex?

Celebrex and Tylenol are in different classes of pain medication, and when you take them both together, they work much better than either one alone. It is a case of 1 + 1 = 3 in terms of the effectiveness of the medication, that is, one Celebrex and one Tylenol are more powerful in relieving pain than two Celebrex alone or two Tylenol alone. The medical term for this is "synergistic." I got this from "Dr. Nelson's Post Operative Instruction Page". You can check it out by searching Google for it.

Does paracetamol help a sore throat?

Both can be used to treat the symptomatic pain, howeverthey are for pain alone and will not solve whatever is causingthe sore throat. One reason for asore throat is that post-nasal drip or the drainage of mucus down your throat, which is best taken care of by gargling with warm salt water. If your lymph nodes feel inflamed odds are you're fighting an infection and should treat it with acetaminophen, warm tea, and a liquid diet to stay hydrated.

What causes an upset stomach?

Answer

I was looking for the answer to this question this morning, and this is what I found on wisegeek.com :

"There are a number of reasons why the level of hydrochloric acid rises and causes a stomachache of this type. Many of these underlying causes have to do with lifestyle choices. This means it is possible to alter habits and behavior and minimize the recurrence of sour stomach in many cases.

One of the most common causes of this phenomenon has to do with consuming too much food within a couple of hours of retiring for the evening. Many people who choose to eat late in the evening do not allow enough time for their bodies to process the food before positioning themselves in a prone position. This makes it easier for the acid to back into the digestive tract and cause a burning sensation that makes it very difficult to rest. The obvious solution here is to eat earlier in the evening and engage in some light activity, such as walking to help stimulate the digestive process.

Along with consuming too much food too late in the day, the type of food consumed can also lead to a sour stomach. Excess consumption of fatty foods can irritate the stomach and lead to a great deal of pain. While taking an antacid may help ease the discomfort, a better option is to consume less animal fats and consume more nutrient-rich options, such as green vegetables.

The root cause for sour stomach in some cases has nothing to do with the type or amount of food consumed. Instead, the stomach is irritated by the consumption of substances that could be minimized or avoided altogether. Smokers increase their chances of developing a sour stomach. In addition, tobacco consumption can exacerbate any tendency to develop an ulcer. Choosing to quit smoking and avoid the use of tobacco products in general can save the individual a lot of pain and also minimize the chances of developing a peptic ulcer.

Stress can also be involved in the creation of a sour stomach. The emotional state of an individual will often impact the ability of various systems in the body to perform at peak efficiency. Someone who is constantly worried or fearful often find they experience a tightness in the stomach area that leads to indigestion no matter what or when they eat. Often, counseling or engaging in activities to minimize stress levels will also lead to a decrease in problems with indigestion as well. "

Is aspirin an anti inflammatory?

Aspirin is a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory effects.

Even at low doses, it reduces the tendency of the blood to clot, and is therefore useful to prevent heart attacks and strokes. The anti-clotting effect means aspirin is best avoided in injuries that tend to bleed. Its anti-inflammatory effects make it useful for tendonitis.

Aspirin can irritate the stomach. The pills should be taken with food (if possible) to prevent stomach upset. Aspirin should be avoided by persons with active ulcers, and by those on anticoagulants (blood thinners). Aspirin decreases the tendency of the blood to clot for many days after a single dose.

What is the difference between oxycocet and oxycodone?

These two drugs are similar, but NOT the same. Hydrocodone is the generic name for Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and about 30 others. It is a narcotic analgesic, and not quite as strong as Oxycodone. It's also SLIGHTLY less regulated i.e. it can be CALLED IN to a pharmacy by a physician. It can be habit forming. Vicodin and the rest are a combo of hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Oxycodone is also a narcotic analgesic, and also can be habit-forming. It can also be a combo of acetaminophen and oxycodone (generic) such as Percocet, Tylox, Roxilox. It is SLIGHTLY more regulated i.e. it CANNOT be called in to a pharmacy: you have to have a physical written prescription from a physician. Because of its potential for abuse and dependence, doctors tend to prescribe Vicodin rather than Percocet. Oxycodone can be prescribed as a single drug preparation ( minus the acetaminophen.)
