Adam and Eve

Why is it that logic is required to understand people being gay, but no such logic is ever asked of religious fairy tales. Its just accepted god created Adam and eve. Are you a fan of incest? If you are wanting to think logically this would mean that Adam and eve probably had sex with and reproduced with their children or at the very least their children with each other and so on at a very rapid rate for humankind to have expanded. On a scientific level though there is no evolutionary advantage to being gay as this would mean the individuals are less likely to reproduce.

God made ALL creatures, great and small. God clearly believes in variety as well, since he made so many different types of animals, and people. God made some of his animals homosexual (gay). This includes people as well, but not JUST people (see the Related Question below for details). Perhaps, homosexuals were created as a part of diversity that God embraces. God is love.

No. The inspired Word of God says there were 2 special trees in the Garden. It describes the fruit of the tree of knowledge was good for food and pleasing to the eye...(Genesis 3:6). The type of eatable fruit was not named though popular human thought has said this to be either an apple or pomergranate.

As the Scripture does not elaborate more fully upon this fruit and the only eye witnesses to this event were the God Family and perhaps the spirit world, no human source can be emphatic on its non-existence.

The latest dinosaur fossils are from 65million years ago; a long time before the earliest humans, so they never had the opportunity.

In the first instance, before sin, and even afterwards, it is likely that all creatures, including man, were vegetarian. We know that even today, given the right variety including all the necessary nutrients and amino acids, people can survive quite well without eating meat and animals can as well.

However, this is a good question, and there are also a number of closely related issues. It must also be remembered that many dinosaurs apparently continued to grow while they were alive and have no limitations of size as most other creatures do, which is why some reached such an enormous size as evidenced in the fossil record. They apparently had a peak growth period in their 'youth' and then slowed down but nevertheless continued to grow.

In Eden, the dinosaurs would have been relatively youthful, by their standards. Secondly, there would have been abundant food apart from people. Thirdly, even after sin and the expulsion from Eden, the abundant food would have continued, and so, as the earth was, at least initially, rather sparsely populated, there would have been no necessity for much interaction with dinosaurs. And of course, the likely 100% vegetarianism would have applied.

As far as the '65 million years' assertion, which doesn't actually answer the question, but attacks the valid presupposition of the questioner - in any case, the 65 million years is no way proven by science. Firstly, no dinosaur or rock comes with a label of '65 million years' on it. The dating methods are based on three unprovable assumptions which have proven to be false on rocks of definitely known age. All that can be measured is the amount of 'parent' and 'daughter' elements present. The soft dinosaur tissue discovery of Dr. Mary Schweitzer, also suggests that there is serious doubt that such tissues could survive 65 million years under even the most ideal conditions, but are much likely only to be as old as a tiny fraction of that time. Once again, the incorrect science needs to give way to concrete evidence.

Secondly, there are numerous accounts of creatures we would call dinosaurs being seen or interacting with man (usually to man's detriment) into relatively recent times. Due to presuppositions, these are always assumed to be myth, but appear to be as numerous and as widespread across cultures as do the many flood 'legends'. Thus, the question itself is a good one. It is really similar in nature to the question 'why didn't lions and tigers' attack Adam and Eve. There are rare recorded cases of such large carnivores nurturing and even protecting their normal prey, even in very recent times. The 'nature red in tooth and claw' situation which we are used to simply did not always exist on this planet. Such modern examples are possible evidence of this, and may also then relate to a similar lack of aggression in meat-eating dinosaurs which, while originally vegetarian later became meat eaters.

I do not know wether Dinosaurs existed in the time of Adam pbuh, but this is what is said in Islam.

They left Paradise and descended upon the earth. Adam was sad and Eve was crying. Allah accepted their repentance because it was sincere and He told them that the earth would be their realm and origin where they would live and die and whence they would come on the Day of Judgment.

Adam knew he bade farewell to peace and he left Paradise. On earth he had to face conflict and struggle. No sooner had one ended than another began. He also had to toil to sustain himself. He had to protect himself with clothes and weapons and protect his wife and children from the wild beasts. Above all he had to struggle with the spirit of evil. Satan, the cause of his expulsion from Paradise, continued to beguile him and his children in an effort to have them thrown into the eternal hellfire. The battle between good and evil is continuous, but those who follow Allah's guidance and should fear nothing while those who disobey Allah and follow Iblis will be damned along with him.

Adam grasped all of this and with the knowledge of this suffering he started his life on the earth. The only thing that allowed his grief was that he was master of the earth and had to make it yield to him. He was the one who had to perpetuate, cultivate and construct and populate the earth. He was also the one who had to procreate and raise children who would change and improve the world.

The Quran is a book of guidance and everything which supports this goal [of guidance] has been mentioned in this Holy Book. The method used in expressing matters is: focusing on the general aspects and less on the details and particulars, and the reason for that may be the unimaginable amount of specific topics and Islamic laws.[1]

In the Quran, even though much has been mentioned about the reality of life, various creatures, classification of living organisms into plants[2] and animals, and the categorization of land animals into quadrupeds (four legged animals) and birds[3], and the categorization of quadrupeds into reptiles, animals that walk on two legs and animals that walk on four legs[4]. Not only have the names of some insects, fish and other creatures been mentioned in the Quran, valuable details about them have been mentioned as well. However as far as dinosaurs and the nature of their life, nothing has been [specifically] mentioned in the Quran and Islam has not expressed any particular viewpoint on this topic. For these types of issues one must refer to the scientist and scholars of the respected fields and derive the Islamic laws and conduct from the basis of their opinions.

Discussions relating to the various types of animals and plants and inanimate objects are all a part of natural sciences as a result the answer must be sought out from natural sciences. Information about dinosaurs must be researched in paleontology books, books regarding extinct animals and zoological museums.

As it has been mentioned in the Quran and in other Islamic sources; much importance has been given to nature, its manifestation and a variety of beings, and they have been referred to as blessings and signs of the One God and His magnificence and dominance; because one of the methodical concepts of theism is paying attention to the existence of livening creatures and the works of God. And this is why the majority of animals that people have seen and are familiar with have been mentioned [in the Quran], so that we can reflect upon their creation.

If science is able to prove the existence and details of prehistoric and extinct animals such as dinosaurs then in actuality this proof itself is one of the numerous signs of God, which paves a new way for understanding the magnitude of the Lord, just as it states in the Holy Quran:

Say, 'Travel over the land and then observe how He has originated the creation. Then Allah shall bring about the genesis of the hereafter. Indeed Allah has power over all things.[5] In Nemuneh Commentary it explains this verse saying: today, these types of verses can correspond to a more precise and deeper meaning for scientist, meaning that they should go and observe the remainings of prehistoric creatures which can now be found as fossils in the depths of the seas, and in the core of mountains and in between the layers of the earth in order to comprehend some of the mysteries of the origination of life on earth and the supremacy and splendor of God, and realize that He is capable of the restitution of life.[6]

Another point which we must pay attention to is that -- Islam is unlike other religions which sometime have teachings which contradict and oppose scientific facts (especially natural sciences and issues relating to creation), which is the primary reason why they have separated their religious discourses from scientific discourses, as well as the methodology of religious livelihood from scientific livelihood, and it is also one of the reasons for many other irrational religious discourses.

The teachings of Islam and the Quran not only have absolutely no type of contradiction with scientific facts, rather from the very time when the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) embraced the divine mission of prophethood, Islam foretold many scientific advancements, inventions and discoveries, and gave value and worth to knowledge, scholars and their respected opinions, and in many instances Islam has used the phenomenon and marvel of creation as evidence and proof of 'origin and end' (initiatial creation and resurrection).

Nonetheless, the Islamic laws and rulings for the Nijasat (ritual impurity), Hiliyat (permissibility by Islamic law) and Hurmat (prohibition by Islamic law), of living creatures whose existence has been proven, has been presented as "factual propositions" meaning that the rulings and laws have been presented as universal laws upon the assumption of the subject's existence. Therefore if dinosaurs did exist or if in the future such a creature with the specifics of a dinosaur comes into existence, even though Islamic legal laws (fiqh) may not have any specific opinion on it, legal scholars can unambiguously derive the Islamic rulings from the principals of Islamic law, just as they have derived rulings for a number of 'Mustahdatha' cases (instances without precedence).
