How do you control punish or stop tantrums in a 16 year old autistic girl?
I am the mother of a 38 year old daughter with Aspergers Syndrome. If you are describing yelling, repeating, animated, PANIC!! This is NOT a punishable tantrum/behaviour; it is a frustrated cry for help. At my house that behavior signals sensory overload OR that she doesn't have a concrete solution for an abstract problem. I believe the standard behavior modifications are: calendars, lists, journals - making the abstract more concrete (even for things we think are goofy)!! My girl has a HS diploma, independently rides public transportation, has a job and even a boyfriend; BUT, like an actress, she needs a script to follow so - we rehearse new situations in advance so that she has confidence instead of fear. When a new situation has been successfully accomplished - PRAISE, PRAISE, PRAISE. When WE learn to think like THEY think, it will become second nature and, like riding a bicycle, you'll never forget.

Can concerta help with PTSD as well as ADHD?
Concerta is made to treat ADHD. You would have to ask your doctor about the possibility of treating PTSD with Concerta.
Though Respidoral is often considered for the treatment of ADHD, it is a heavy drug, that is it is an extremely potent anti-psychotic usually prescribed for people with schizophrenia, psychosis and severe autism. It does work in some cases, but it causes anxiety, often depression, and you typically gain about 20 kilograms (45 pounds) of weight. This is in addition to the side effects often experienced when people use drugs like haloperidol, such as akathisia, dry mouth, muscle-stiffness, muscle-cramping, restlessness, tremors, Rabbit syndrome and in severe cases of accidental over-prescription, drug-induced coma.
Basically, not worth the risk.
If you have ADHD, and are considering a course of medications, the best thing I can recommend is good diet and regular healthy exercise, followed by a low-dosage course of Ritalin or atomoxetin.

Why do the side effects occur from ADHD medicine?
All medicines can cause side effects. The meds used for treating ADHD act upon the chemicals in the brain, so anywhere these chemicals have action, there can be side effects. Not everyone experiences the same side effects, but it is important to discuss with your physician any that you have so that treatment can be geared directly toward your condition.

Does adult add cause depression and anxiety or is it the other way around?
It works both ways in this case. ADHD/ADD is generally not taken seriously in adult cases, which leads to a lack of medication/psychological treatment. This could lead to a depression due to the fact that you generally will feel that you are not normal, or that you can't do things right.
But in most cases, ADHD/ADD is something you are born with, and thus it is not "created", but in some cases a depression/anxiety can force the brain into making the same chemical imbalances as you see in a ADHD/ADD case. Although this happens, it is also arguable that the imbalance was present at birth, but the brain had learnt how to manage with it.

Three sessions of coccygeal manipulation via the rectum have been found to be twice as effective in reducing pain as external physical therapy for those with traumatic onset of pain and a stable coccyx (Maigne). Active exercises and a home exercise program to improve pelvic strength may be incorporated in the treatment regimen. I was diagnosed and treated as a child and after neglecting it for 25 years, I was again diagnosed, Adult ADD. My social interaction with people and co-workers has been much, much better.
