First Psychosis:

Psychosis is functionally a break with reality, wherein the patient exhibits hallucinations and/or delusions. The patient's objective grasp of reality is distorted. While psychosis can be treated, it really can't be cured.

Since psychology emerged as a science, folks have been arguing over whether psychosis was caused by neurophysiological issues (physical stuff and nature) or behavioral/cognitive issues (mind stuff, childhood and nurture). Since then, lots of progress has been made on both sides of this argument == there are empirical aspects of both. My guess is the reality of it is that both aspects factor into it.

However, drug induced psychosis or stimulant psychosis isn't the same thing at all. The drugs that induce this form of psychosis are all stimulants, most commonly amphetimines and cocaine derrivatives. These drugs, among lots of other things, induce temporary episodes of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and they surely mess up the sleep cycle something fierce. However, this condition almost always reverses when the patient comes off the stimulants and gets some rest (I say "almost" as it's hard to say what happens when a natural psychotic starts hitting stimmulants? -- But anyway)...

I don't see why not. Adderall's generic name is mixed amphetamine salt, which from what I understand is dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) and other various amphetamines combined w/ HCl (the "salt"). Any standard drug test will test for amphetamines. At any rate, the standard hair test tests the closest 1.5 " of hair to the scalp, thereby providing somewhere in the range of a 90-day drug history, variable depending on hair growth rates. I believe taking two adderalls a week would most likely put a user above the amphetamine cutoff level. If you are prescribed, you are fine. If not, I wouldn't say necessarily you're screwed, but you may want to do some more research.

I am not a doctor but, personally speaking, I would not place a seven year old on Adderall at all nonetheless at 30 mg. per day. Adderall presents significant cardiovascular risks to both adults and children and, according to the FDA, though rare, it can cause sudden death in children. Additionally, if she is on 30 mg. now, what is she going to do for the rest of her life after she has reached the maximum Adderall dose and it has stopped working.

Clinically, I am not sure what the answer is but am curious myself because I too have felt minor sharp pains in that area while taking the medication. They usually come while at rest but not while exerting.

Yes I am also I am sure there are a lot of others on that high dosage. It is unusual but some people have a fast metabolism and metabolize the pills fast, therefore build a tolerance and need higher doses. This is usually done gradually if an increase is needed.

What you're talking about is basically a watered down or "kiddy" version of what's called a "speed ball", a real speed ball being heroin and cocaine. Whether it's bad or not just depends on whether you plan to do this a lot, if you are already an addict, plan to be or have moral or responsibility issues on the subject.

Firstly, I think any logical person can agree than proselytizing or telling someone what they "should" do (to be more like them) is useless in these internet forum things. These forums are not soapboxes.

Ok, here it is, I was a junky for quite a while and I can tell you that what you're talking about is dangerous. It's a lottery. I was, personally, always able to mix drugs in huge amounts and rarely overdosed in a serious way (you should know that any time a prescription drug gets you high because you took more than prescribed this is technically an overdose.) An addict or junky overdoses everyday, maybe all day. But I had friends who died from much smaller doses of the same drug cocktails I would use on a daily basis. So, while combining drugs with opposite highs can be a lot of fun you are basically playing Russian Roulette.

Without preaching, my advice is that you stay away from prescription pain pills unless you really need them and even then you should try hard to find another way. Not because it's "bad", because it can make it hard to have a happy and productive life. Besides that, be careful with the opiates and amphetamines and if you need both (for whatever your own reasons may be) keep your doses low or if you actually want to become an addict, ease your way into and prepare for a ride that ends in misery. That's not a caveat either, really. Without the misery that addiction wrought on me, (not to mention the first few euphoric and amazingly productive years before the devil came to collect what I owed so to speak) I'd have missed quite a few things that helped my work and my growth as a person. That might sound messed up but it's my truth. While I see how full of bull someone like Timothy Leary was, I can appreciate the basic shamanism that William Burroughs, John Frusciante, or (maybe) Daniel Pinchbeck engaged in and the realizations that would have been impossible without delving into those realms, that abyss.

I got way off your point, but my reason for doing this was that anyone wanting an answer to the question you asked is obviously flirting with a stint as an addict and this is what I know or think about that.

Lastly, if you are doing this type of thing and think you won't become addicted or have no metaphysical or personally experimental reasons to do something this hard to yourself, please don't kid yourself. You could get lucky, yes. Addiction is a genetic predisposition and some people can be weekend warriors. This I can't help with as it was all or nothing for me.
