Yes, I discovered a 64" worm stretched out on a trail in Sutton, Alaska on 9/20/2009. It appeared to be a earthworm and despite its extreme length, it was only about as big around as the joint of my thumb.
My walking companion happened to have a 36" pocket tape measure with him and we laid it out alongside the worm and snapped photos which I submitted to biologist with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. They assured me that they had never seen anything like it and that they didn't believe that it was some sort of parasitic worm which had passed through an animal. It was some type of unidentified earthworm.
