Basically no, alcoholism is an allergic addiction, they cannot be moderated as you crave what you're very allergic to, also there's a Genetic component to it, plus most alcoholics don't think they are alcoholics and may be able to stop, but not for good. Alcohol can be a good medicine for many ADHD bipolar and the like.. It was used all through history, and if you are a Christian believer, was prescribed by God himself, to joy the heart, and ease depression and poverty.

BUT, just like abusing any medicine from a doctor, the bad effects will out weight the good. Alcohol is a natural depressant.. not meaning sadness, but it calms in small amounts (glass or two), but when you tip the scale into drunk, the effects will be more evident in a AHD bipolar than one without these so called disorders. The danger for most ADD and Bipolar, is in their trials, they are susceptible to self medication. I myself am a bipolar schizophrenic and though i did have my battle with Alcohol in the past, with discipline I now drink in moderation with no ill effects as does my father (bipolar) and wife (ADHD - we like to stick together;).

There have been many controversies about if chewing gum really affects the brain cells. In reality, we can't really know for sure...but we do know that it has also been proven that chewing gum can speed up or heartbeat which sends more blood to our brain, causing us to think faster and remember things easier. So no, chewing gum does not necessarily kill brain cells, it might even be helpful. I would recommend doing some further research into the matter on science.com or any other helpful websites :)

In general, avoid beers and stick to wines, ciders, and hard liquors. The first two are made from fruit juice while the last, while sometimes made from grain alcohol, is pretty much stripped of gluten when it's distilled.

I'm no expert but i am Scottish had the same problem and this is my conclusion

I find if you are not drinking enough water during the day,or drinking too many sugar based drinks as a substitute for water your body will gradually become dehydrated

when you drink alcohol your body will not ingest the H2O content of the beverage as efficiently as usual but rather concentrate its efforts with breaking down the alcohol, which it regards as poison dehydrating you very quickly

So my theory is this.....You are suffering what we call a " mid day hangover"

remember a hangover is just a manifestation of dehydration.

so the solution i found to deal with this is get you body in a regime where water is its main source of hydration (during the day) this takes a bit of time.

I find it takes about 3 weeks to flush out your system.

Then your ready to rock you body can cope with the drinking process with added benefits such as..

I got on a bus heading to work after a night out. My head was splitting, no moisture in mouth. Infact i was so ill i could not even have a cigarette.

When i got to work, I open a bottle of water and within five minutes of drinking it a was pished again and hungover by lunch time
