The part about the Chinese inventing pasta is false. It was not the Chinese that invented paste, they invented the RICE NOODLE. Pasta is made from wheat and grain NOT rice.

The opening ceremonies is the official start of the Olympic games, whether summer or winter. It is held in a large stadium or arena in the host city and is known for spectacular performances and high budgets.

Every opening ceremony includes a march of the athletes participating in the games, who walk into the stadium for their country in alphabetical order with Greece first and the host country last.

The Heraea games were held during ancient Greek times. They were held for women who were not allowed to watch or participate in the regular Olympic Games. They played all the same events the men did except in a shorter version. The games were called the Heraea games because the were held in honor of the Greek goddess Hera. Hence the name. The games mainly consisted of foot races.

Athletes.

Small boys between the ages of 5 and 10 are sought to clamber up chimneys to clean out deposits of soot. Some of the chimneys are extremely narrow, perhaps only 18 centimetres (7 inches) square, and you may be reluctant at first to wriggle into them. However, plenty of encouragement is provided - by a lighted straw held beneath your feet or by pins stuck into you. You may suffer some cuts, grazes and bruises at first, but months of suffering will toughen up your skin to a leather-like quality.
