You took 2 Tylenol 4 hours before taking 166 mg aspirin?

It's not a good idea to take a lot of painkillers together. However, if it is only one time, it shouldn't be too damaging. Regular use is hard on the liver.

Is marijuana an anti inflammatory?

New research shows that one of the cannabinoid found in marijuana is an anti-inflammatory that doesn't have the side effect of getting you high. THC also combats inflammation, but that's the stuff that gets you high. However, experiments at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology showed that another cannabis compound, (E)-BCP (beta-caryophyllene), is also an anti-inflammatory but doesn't affect the molecular receptor that makes you feel stoned. Instead it activates only the CB2 receptor which plays a key role in alleviating inflammation.

If your highly allergic to ibuprofen can you take naproxen sodium without worry?

Can you take aspirin and acetaminophen together?

You Should not mix Acetaminophen (Tylenol)[Paracetamol ]

and Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin). The reason for this is long term renal (kidney) damage. What happens is - the Tylenol induces the formation of free oxide radicals which damage tissues (especially the kidneys and liver). This is normally not an issue at low Tylenol doses.

However, when you add Aspirin to the mix, the free oxide radicals become an issue. Aspirin is a Cyclooxygenase inhibitor (COX), which decreases prostaglandin (PGE 2) synthesis.

Prostaglandins are responsible for vasodilatation of the renal afferent arterioles. If you are on Aspirin the renal afferent arterioles are vasoconstricted and subsequently renal blood flow is decreased. When renal blood flow is compromised your kidney is less able to deal with the free oxide radicals produced by Tylenol.

So what happens?

The free oxide radicals damage the renal medulla (which may slough off) or lose the ability to concentrate urine due to damage to the most notably the thick ascending limb of the nephron. This is called Analgesic Nephropathy.

Having said this, the damage is caused by long term mixing of Tylenol and Aspirin, so having mixed the two in the past once five years ago is not going to compromise your kidneys. Just make sure to avoid the mistake in the future, and Pass on this information (there are way too many sources providing incorrect information on this subject).

Can you take Tylenol cold multi-symptom medicine two hours after taking aspirin?

There should be no problem taking these to medications in close temporal proximity, as there is no significant interactions between aspirin and tylenol.

Its Sunday and you are in real pain and the dentist does not open until Tuesday What can you do to relieve the pain You have taken two 200mg of Ibuprofen but its still hurting. Any suggestions?

You can expect maximum relief from 800mg Ibuprofen. Additionally, if you can see a cavity on the tooth in pain, a few drops of oil of cloves may give temporary relief. Any pharmacy should carry topical pain relievers for toothache pain.

What happens when you take 2 percocet 325 and 4 ibuprofen 200 mg?

nothing unusual. Oxycodone and ibuprofen have no multipler or syserginic reactions like if you took xanax and alcohol. Dont take anymore ibuprofen than that though because it is very bad for the liver.

Can you take acetaminophen with Ibuprofen?

Yes, you can take both of these medications at the same time, and in fact your doctor may recommend that you do so. These drugs do not exhibit any inherent, dangerous interaction with each other, and have been in the field for a long time, so no new findings are likely or anticipated.

However, as toxicity is always a function of dosage, any time you take any active medication, you need to be aware of how much you take, and what other medications you're taking that act in the same manner. Ibuprofen and Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) belong to the group of drugs called NSAIDs - Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. They work in a very similar but not identical way. Acetaminophen is not considered an NSAID and is thought to work in the brain rather than peripherally. They are gastrointestinal irritants (APAP, the least irritating, also doesn't perform as well as an anti-inflammatory). They work as pain relievers by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. And, even though these drugs do not specifically interact with each other, unsupervised or self-medication has the risk of overdosing, if the patient takes very high doses or two or three of these meds concurrently.

The makers of Tylenol (APAP) specifically do not recommend the patient mixing these drugs without medical supervision. The reason for this is, while the drugs can themselves be safely used concurrently, dosage and over-dosage is always a concern. Understandably, they are worried about accidental overdose resulting from ignorance of the contents of all the medications their customers can take, and they've opted for the most conservative if not the most medically effective course in issuing this warning.

It is further observed that many over the counter and prescription products contain these medications. For instance, Tylenol is the brand name for APAP, so of course it'll contain it. Vicodin, a prescription painkiller, also contains APAP. And so on. The wise patient will keep a sharp eye on this when they use over the counter remedies, and will tell their doctor what they've taken, be it prescription, OTC or homeopathic/natural/herbal medication, so that the caregiver can make a clear, informed decision about further medication. It's generally accepted that the more a patient knows about their condition and medication, the better it is for everyone.

Keep in mind it is important to take the appropriate dosage. Overdosing can lead to drug toxicity.
The US National Institutes of Health reports that both acetaminophen and ibuprofen have been shown to be safe for adults or children when given individually or together in recommended doses for short term use. Children should be given only versions that are clearly identified for use by children. The combination has been shown to be superior to either product individually for the reduction of medium levels of pain. A landmark study is underway at Penn State School of Medicine to determine whether the combination is superior to either product individually for the reduction of fever. It is essential to follow directions for these products carefully, especially for acetaminophen. The margin for error in acetaminophen overdose is slim, and the consequences are serious. (For adults, the combination of acetaminophen and aspirin has been found to be superior to either product individually for the reduction of fever. Children should not be given aspirin.)

(IMPORTANT: This is an opinion only. Advice should be sought from either your doctor or phamacist when mixing medications)

Why does aspirin cause bronchospasm?

Aspirin is a non-selective and irreversible inhibitor of a class of enzymes known as COX. These enzymes are responsible for the production of prostaglandins and thromboxane. There are several subtypes of prostaglandins, some of which induce bronchospasm (PGE2) and others that cause bronchodilation (PGI2). But this is unimportant since aspirin will block the production of all prostaglandins.

If you look at the figure below, you can see that COX enzymes are only half of the story in the metabolism of Arachidonic acid. The other half is known as the Lipoxygenase (LOX) pathway

This LOX pathway is responsible for the production of pro-inflammatory chemicals known as Leukotrienes (LTs). By blockade of the COX pathways, all of the arachidonic acid is funneled into the LOX pathway, thereby increasing these pro-inflammatory chemicals. And since pro-inflammatory chemicals are the same chemicals that produce allergies and anaphylaxis --> Bronchoconstriction occurs.

In other words, by blocking the synthesis of PGs (some of which can bronchodilate), the balance between bronchodilators and bronchoconstrictors is deregulated, leading to a predominance of bronchoconstrictors, hence the asthma.

What is the difference between aspirin and paracetamol?

Paracetamol is often more commonly known by its alternate name acetaminophen. It is a common drug that is usually available over the counter and sold under brand names like Tylenol®:. Its main uses are to relieve pain (analgesic) and to reduce fever (antipyretic), and it typically mild with few side effects. Most people can take paracetamol without problems, though there are a few instances where it may be contraindicated.

Aspirin is an analgesic, or pain reducer, an anti-inflammatory and a fever reducer. As such, it is often resorted to for mild to moderate pain, such as attends chronic arthritis, colds and flu, or sports injuries. Developed in the latter part of the nineteenth century, aspirin is now known to reduce the coagulation of the blood, and in continuous low doses can provide some protection from heart attacks.
