I certainly can. People with seizure histories should not take it. Everyone should start with a small dose & build up slowly to be sure Welbutrin does not cause seizures in you.

Sometimes things would happen like I would look at someone I know really well. I'd recognize them, but not be able to remember their name. People and events in my life would lose their identities and categorizations would be scattered. Is this what some of you experience?

Everyone reacts differently to medications. Some people can experience withdrawl symptoms from stopping the SSRIs (anti-depressants such as Lexapro), while some have no symptoms at all. For those that have withdrawl symptoms, I always recommend tapering the medication by breaking it in half or taking it every other day then every three days, etc. Sometimes, this can take a really long time since some people experience pretty severe withdrawl symptoms. The main thing is to talk it over with your physician and set up a plan that will work the best for you. I am 21 year old college student who took Lexapro, 20mg, for 5 months. I was prescribed Lexapro to treat my anxiety and obsessive thoughts. As most college students, I became incredibly stressed with my major. The problem was, that I did not talk to anyone about it, I just let the anxiety and the negative thoughts take over.

I definitely think I needed Lexapro to get me through the rough time! But, along with the medicine I also saw a therapist, who taught me techniques on how to reduce and manage my stress/anxiety. Counseling gave me the tools to work through the anxiety, the medicine reversed my emotions so I was able to make it through the day.

As I stated previously, I started at 20mg --- all I did to taper off was take 10mg of Lexapro for a week, then I was done! I am on my third day of being completely off of the medication. I am experiencing occasional dizziness/light-headedness and sweating. But, I know that will only last a little bit longer. I am feeling great and staying positive :)

Effexor XR, which brought in $3.8 billion for Wyeth in 2007, is losing patent protection this year, and Wyeth is introducing desvenlafaxine, which is simply Effexor's main metabolite, as a "novel antidepressant." There's nothing novel about it. Every patient who takes Effexor produces Pristiq in their own body, at no additional charge.

2. It's not very effective. In the studies released so far, Pristiq just barely squeaks by placebo on the Hamilton Depression scale. In the U.S. study, Pristiq decreased the HamD by only 2 points (-11.5 vs. -9.5 for placebo), and in the European study, the differences was 2.5 points. And for the higher 100 mg dose, there was no difference between drug and placebo for U.S. patients.

3. It is not more easily dosed than Effexor XR. The main Wyeth marketing point for Pristiq is that patients can get better by taking the beginning dose of 50 mg, eliminating the need for a complicated upward dose titration process. Sorry, but this is not different from Effexor. If you look at one of the original fixed-dose studies of Effexor, comparing patients taking 75 mg, 225 mg, or 375 mg, you'll find that the 75 mg dose separated from placebo as well as Pristiq's 50 mg. Psychiatrists typically begin Effexor at either 37.5 or 75 mg/day. At least with Effexor XR, when you keep increasing the dose, efficacy improves, meaning it actually has an efficacy advantage over Pristiq, because when you increase the dose of Pristiq, you lose efficacy, according to the U.S. study data.

4. It has no meaningful metabolic advantages. Wyeth will highlight the fact that Pristiq is not metabolized by the P-450 system and therefore does not have any drug-drug interactions. Well, guess what, Effexor has no clinically meaningful drug-drug interactions either.

5. Wyeth's own lead investigator is unimpressed. I spoke briefly with Dr. Michael Liebowitz, the Columbia University psychiatrist who led the major Pristiq trials. Pristiq, he said, "is another SNRI--it is not a revolutionary drug." It may be more tolerable at the starting 50 mg dose, he said, but only time will tell if it truly is clinically useful. **Different Answer - from someone who has actually used both meds!!**

I was on Effexor for sometime between 6 months and a year (it's been awhile so I don't remember the exact time period), and while it did help with my depression (it helped lift my mood), it made me extremely sleepy. As someone who is usually sleepy (due to my depression, so the docs tell me), something causing me to be even sleepier than usual was definitely bad :( Spoke with my doc and he said in order to counteract this I should take Effexor in the evenings (about dinnertime, not bedtime or I would still be sleepy in the morning). I take my other meds in the morning with breakfast, so it was hard for me to remember to take Effexor separately, by itself, in the evenings. For this reason, when Pristiq came out my doc switched me to that because he said that because it apparently skips a metabolic step (as compared to Effexor), it would not make me sleepy and I could take it with my other meds in the mornings. Yay!! So I am happy to report that, after switching to Pristiq, I did not experience a decrease in effectiveness as compared to Effexor in treating my depression, and I did not feel sleepy after taking the med. My insurance doesn't cover prescriptions, so for me Pristiq is way more expensive than Effexor, but luckily I was able to qualify for free medication through Pristiq's patient assistance program. So, from my point of view at least, there is a significant difference between Effexor and Pristiq, and if your doctor recommends Pristiq over Effexor, it's probably for a reason. You should try it out for yourself before deciding if it's worth any extra cost.

Yes. Even after 3-9 months, the effectiveness can diminish due to your brain's adaptation to the dose - so the dose increases help keep up with the adaptation. Over time, you can only take so much of one med, so they switch to a new one or add another one, even though there's not much if any research on mixing various medications.

Very bad idea! Talk to your doctor about tapering the dose instead, side effects can be pretty severe depending on many factors if you stop abruptly taking Effexor or any antidepressant.

I think I have this straight. You were prescribed 450mg of Buprion. That is the maximum dosage for this drug. What you did with cutting pills is ok but I wouldn't do it everyday. It is not a proper way to measure your dosage.

I would seriously considering speaking to your doctor. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the overdose was an accident, but either way you should let your doctor know so that as he/she may help you. If fluoxetine was helpful prior to the overdose, it may indeed be helpful to restart it, when your physician believes that this is the right thing to do.

This combination is commonly prescribed. As with all medications, Ativan and Celexa should only be used (alone or in combination) as prescribed.

I too take remeron and they do not test for antidepressents.

This should really be up to your doctor. If you've given it 2-3 months, I would think upping the dose would help you. I upped my dose at about 3 months, from 10mg to 20mg and eventually to 30mg, where I gained alot of weight. It helped me tremendously upping the dose, though.

NO!, it isn't advised in taking effexor with kolonopine, it interfears with the heart.

We cannot answer that, except to say that it is more likely that the Lexapro triggered an existing condition than that it caused it. We suggest discussing this issue with a mental health professional.

can you take flexaril and celexa together safety

its not dangerous if your under tremendous stress and depression day and night i recommend you take it but the thing about most of anidepresants including prozac it gives a decrease in libido and sexual desire i take 20 mgs a day and i feel some what of these signafects so i can imagine 100mgs lol...... but the answer is no its not fatal to take 100mgs dailey

These are just symptoms you get when you come off it- you may want to ask your doctor for advice if it's really bad

Yes I am also I am sure there are a lot of others on that high dosage. It is unusual but some people have a fast metabolism and metabolize the pills fast, therefore build a tolerance and need higher doses. This is usually done gradually if an increase is needed.

Are you referring to the doctor written paper prescription form itself, or to the bottle of pills? Either would be a violation of law - the actual possession of the pills being more serious.
