Can anxiety be controlled without medication?

15+ years research. I can say Anxiety / Panic is mind over matter. But MOSTLY, the fastest relief is to do something you can fall in love with. Happiness is key(and it was for me) the odd, uncomfortable thoughts disapear all on their own!

I suffered many years, to find out I have a heart condition. Anxiety is the #1 symptom of a heart condition like mine because it effects my central nervous system. The one drug I KNOW helped / helps me is Xanax. I use it about 5 times a year, I should use it more often....

Going forward, I was in a marriage 11 yrs, left due to my unhappiness. Met someone else who made me happy, my whole world changed INCLUDING my Anxiety!!!! I went back to the marriage after 1.5 yrs... Anxiety came back!!!!

Its some times a mixture of things, but its a definite life change. Stress is a key factor, Exercise is key also, I noticed 3 times a week, helped me think clearer. Diet is essential, Eating junk, high fructose, brown sugar, caffeine, not eating, eating too much...all counts! Sleep is important! Its like a puzzle, once you start putting it together, it will start to make sense and get easier.

Thinking positive, meaning... Instead of saying "Oh, I hate going there". Say thinks like "Oh, Im looking forward to going there today". If you think garbage, you feel like garbage. Breathing in your nose, out your mouth can be a good way to sooth the discomfort. Eventually, it will help and medication which is a crutch, will not be needed. If you feel it only during situations, use Xanax!

Walking away from a stressful situation is one example of A. insulting people B. changing the subject C. using refusal skills D. being a coward?

D.

now it's not D your not being a coward. Its called Refusal Skills, because you are Refusing to stoop down to someone's level. Instead you walk off and cool down and give the other person time to cool down as well. So your answer is C Refusal Skills, like they say it takes a bigger person to do the harder things like walk away, the easy thing is to just knock somebody out. Hope this helps you understand what refusal skills mean or what they are trying to get you to understand.

How can you stop a bad panic attack?

I get these all the time. Panic attacks are triggered usually for no reason, and come out of the blue. The main thing to remember, is that YOU are in control. It's all mind over matter. You need to keep reminding yourself that what you are going threw is just in your mind, and that it will pass. Deep breathing, and other relaxation techniques help me the most. Remember, life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% of how you react to it.

Why do certain noises make me anxious recently when I'm at school I get panic attacks and i think it is from everyone talking around me also the television makes me anxious when it is loud?

I have social anxiety so I understand anxiety when there are a lot of people around you talking. It's very loud and to hear those voices all blend together makes me feel light headed and red. Psychologically, A lot of infants and young children get scared of loud noises. I used to be scared of parties because of this. DO NOT DWELL ON YOUR ANXIETY. Remember they are feelings and no matter what will go away. If you're having breathing problems, yawning helps even a forced yawn. Remember your anxiety comes from a fight or flight response. Remember during fighting times, loud noises would alert us to anything that might harm us so we needed to run or fight for our lives. In today's society, loud noises don't mean that but your brain doesn't know that society is keeping us safe (sort of). Don't feel bad it is actually completely normal from a physiological standpoint. What helps the most is to not think about it. Try not to live in your own thoughts too much. Talk with friends, play a sport or instrument etc... RELAX AND DON'T THINK TOO MUCH This has helped me the most. Just enjoy life, A lot of ugliness in it but some beauty still exists in this world.
