What is the Roman name for god Apollo?
APOLLO Both the Greeks and the Romans used that name.
Apollo's Roman name was Apollo. The Romans did not give him another name. But they would refer to him as Apollon, Phoebus Apollo, or just Phoebus.
He was known by other names as well. Castor, Lycius, Helios, Cynthius, Phythius,
Nominus and Sminthius. He was the son of Leto and Zeus and twin brother of Artemis. Sorry I do not know which of all his names the romans used.
EVERYONE is important to God, including you!!!! Why? Because God is the source of all life, and decided to cause you to exist.
Because God sent you here with a purpose, something only you can do, and God wants you to fulfill your reason for being here. Because you are created in God's image and likeness. Because God knows you better even than you know yourself, and loves you more than you will ever know. Because God desires relationship with you; God wants to be known as a loving Parent and a Friend.
What is God called in the Lakota religion?
WRONG
The Lakota were not monotheist, different names exist for a multitude of gods.
The Lakota were pantheistic. Wakan Tanka is many and one. It's a pantheistic philosophy, of sorts.
CORRECT:
The Lakhóta along with the rest of the Plains Indians were and still are monothiestic. They believe in a multitude of spirits such as the spirits of the four winds or the four cardinal directions. Spirits of the mountains, rivers, lakes, sky, weather, thunder, wind, rocks, trees etcétera. But they believe in only one god, God who is over mankind, other animals ant over sll the spirit-gods.
Wakhan Thanka means big or great mystery or power. This power is unseen and ever powerful. When the Plains Indians pray they pray first to the four cardinal directions one at a time. Than their prayers are directed to Grandmother Earth, and lastly to the big almighty one in the sky (day or night) who is God Wakhan Thanka. Their belief: after going through rounds of prayer loading the prayer pipe with tobacco (prayers are said as each pinch of tobacco is put into (loaded) the pipe. (Can take an hour or more in a Sweat Lodge). A prayer is offered until the pipe is full. Then a few more rounds of prayer are offered. Each round they prayers become more intense and elaborate. Finally the Prayer Pipe is lit and passed around as yet more prayers to God Wakhan Thanka are offered until the tobacco is used up. They believe that the smoke from the burning tobacco carries their prayers to God in Heaven.
The Arapaho are extremely religious. They can spend 4 to 6 hours praying in a Sweat Lodge while sweating profusely.
Why is the laurel a symbol of Apollo?
It relates back to the story of Apollo and Daphne (which is an allegory for why dew disappears after the sun rises, but also describes the danger in insulting the immortals). In it, Apollo is struck by one of Eros' arrows (because the god had chided the cherubic son of Aphrodite for playing with a man's warlike instrument) and falls irrevocably in love with a Nymph named Daphne. Eros also shot one of his lead arrows at Daphne making her revile the next person she would see. As Apollo approaches, she tries to escape, but he pursues relentlessly. As her strength fails, she calls out to her father, the river god Peneus, who helps her by transforming her into a tree. That tree was the Laurel.

The Famous Myths that I know are, 1. George Washington was Americas' first president. Everyone "knows" that Washington was the first of the (so far) 43 Presidents of the US. However, this isn't strictly the case. During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress (or the 'United States in Congress Assembled') chose Peyton Randolph as the first President. Under Randolph, one of their first moves was to create the Continental Army (in defence against Britain), appointing General Washington as its commander. Randolph was succeeded in 1781 by John Hancock, who presided over independence from Great Britain. After Washington defeated the British at the Battle of Yorktown, Hancock sent him a note of congratulations. Washington's reply was addressed to "The President of the United States". Eight years later, as a revered war hero, Washington himself became America's first popularly elected President - but strictly speaking, the FIFTEENTH President! 2. Edison invented the electric light. Thomas Edison is known as the world's greatest inventor. His record output - 1,093 patents - still amazes us, over a century later. Astonishing, except for one thing: he didn't invent most of them. Most Edison inventions were the work of his unsung technicians - and his most famous invention, the electric light, didn't even belong to his laboratory. Four decades before Edison was born, English scientist Sir Humphry Davy invented arc lighting (using a carbon filament). For many years, numerous innovators would improve on Davy's model. The only problem: none could glow for more than twelve hours before the filament broke. The achievement of Edison's lab was to find the right filament that would burn for days on end. A major achievement, but not the first.
