How many male guppys can you have to how many females?

*EDIT BY AUTHOR* I'm a beginner and I'm getting 5 guppies. So should I get 1 male and 4 females or 2 males and 3 females?? I don't mind if I have a lot of babies, I'm giving them to good homes anyway.

Short answer. Dont get five. Long Answer: You should always have 2 or three females to males. So I would recommend getting six. Do you know how to raise and birth fry? Or how to take care of them? These are important questions if you are getting different genders. Best of luck to you.

Do molly lay eggs?

That's correct, mollies do bear live young. Though on rare occasions, they do, for whatever reason, "abort" their pregnancies.

Just this evening a heavily pregnant black molly of mine produced about a dozen bright orange eggs, and three fry. One of the fry is seriously underdeveloped and wont make it, I'm certain. The babies have been having a feast on the leftover eggs, so there must be a reason for this behaviour. It may be an instinctive response, as my mollies live in a large tank with some large fish. It could be that my molly has exhausted her supply of sperm, and only fertilised the eggs she could. There are any number of reasons.

It is a shock seeing eggs appear, where usually the explosive darting fry greet one at a molly pregnancy, but it does happen!

How long do neon fish stay pregnant?

How big should a bowl be for 1 hi fin tetra?

Betta fish bowls do not necessarily need to be very large due to their harsh living conditions in the wild; however, the bigger the tank is, the longer he will live and you don't have to clean the tank as nearly as often. Adding a live aquatic plant adds beauty and even more oxygen to the water, giving maximum health to your Betta.

They don't have to have very big bowls because they can live in very small spaces however, they are very energetic and love to swim around so if you want to keep two or three you might contemplate a big tank with lots of hiding places. It isn't a good idea to keep a male and a female together, unless they are breeding but, you can keep two females together peacefully. Two males is DEFINITELY NOT a good idea.

In the wild guppies eat: shrubs, algae and small insects and shrimp like creatures.
