What adaptation did the Freshwater Angelfish make to live in its environment?
Adaptations-
1.) Compressed bodies with a thin and very slim shape enable Angelfish to slip through thickets of plant growth to escape a fight with another angel, or more importantly, escape danger.
2.) wild Angelfishes natural coloration consists of a silvery background with three or more dark brown stripes. This is very effective for hiding from predators especially in a dark enviroment. One stripe extends over their eye to further hide them from detection...
3.) Angelfish are able to stand "stock-still" for several minutes this also leads to a great advantage as to not be seen by predators in the wild.
Angelfish are also very cautious of the cichlid family and will immediately take cover in the presence of danger.

Yes, some type of filter is recommended, depending on the size of the tank and your setup, you can look at using a box filter, power filter, or even an undergravel filter. Personally I use power filters in my 10 gallon tanks with a fine mesh covering the intake tube, and do weekly water changes.
How do platys act they have babies?
My answer based on experience: I have had baby platys and what I do is have lots of fake plants which are the cheapest floating around on the surface of the tank for them to hide in. Also when you feed your bigger fish crumble up little flakes and sprinkle them over the little plants for the little babies.
Most people would tell you to go buy collinders or separate the mom from the babies if you do my answer then you will save LOADS of money and it works
How does a swordtail fish breathe?
For one you need to be able to tell the difference between male and female.
Males always have the sword on their tail and are normally bright coloured or speckled. Females don't have the sword and look anything between whitey grey to orangey or yellowy even speckled.
If a female is pregnant you will start to notice her baby bump in a week or two. It is a good idea that you separate her or even better put in a few LIVE plants or hidey holes for cover so the baby fish can hide so they wont be eaten by their mother or father or anyone else for that matter.
How can you tell the gender of a glow tetra?
These little fish (Hemigrammus erythrozonus) have no easilly visible sexual differences util they are adult and ready to breed. At this time the females develop heavier, chubbier outlines than the males. This is due to the female filling with ova. (eggs). They are not easy to breed and are even harder to rear once they have been spawned.
Some of the "Salmon" family amongst others have this "die after breeding" feature in their life cycle it is called "semelparity".
Do platy fish die after giving birth?
yes, platys eat baby fry
however, if you buy a special breeding net or a breeding tank, they will survive.
also, if you have many plants to protect the fry, some should make it. But be sure to separate the fry from the parents.
Do you have any idea how big most Plecostomus sp. get? They grow into monsters (12" minimum) and your tiny 10 gallon tank won't be big enough for it by itself. If you just had the five smaller fish and the Betta you would be very close to overstocked because your 10 (nominal) gallon tank will actually only contain a maximum of around 8 or 9 gallons. Tanks are never filled to the brim and probably also have gravel on the bottom which will displace some water.

Can guppies mate with other fish?
It seems someone somewhere is preying upon the gullibillity and ignorance of the fish buying public and selling something that is not a Koi as a Koi. (Officially/Taxonomicaly there is no such thing as a Koi Swordfish). Koi (Cyprinus carpio) is not a description it is a species. They are cold water egg layers that can grow to around 4 or 5 feet long. Koi are members of the goldfish family. Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are tropical livebearing fish and grow to a maximum of 2 inches. These two species obviously can not cross breed. It is possible that (In America) the common Swordtail Guppy is now being promoted/sold as a Koi Swordtail. If this is the case then yes all of the many different colour types and fin types of guppy (Poecilia reticulata) can and will readily breed with one another because they are the same species.
Can female angelfish live in the same tank?
Angelfish are a schooling/shoaling species and should be kept in groups of no less than 5 if you with to avoid fighting and bullying problems in the growing young fish. 2 males will be OK until they reach breeding size and condition and then there could be fights as they try to mate up with females. I very much doubt if you can sex your angelfish anyway. It is extremely difficult. Particularly when two females will commonly get together and spawn.
