Crossbows are usually a higher draw weight because a person of the same strength can wield a stronger crossbow because they can use legs as well as arms when bracing a crossbow, wheras a bow uses only the arms to draw.

Prehistoric archers would have used crude bows and arrows made from sticks for the bow and sharpened sticks for arrows. Later, sharpened bone for arrowheads, tying them to their arrow with strips of sinew. The Egyptians of 3500 BC used bows as tall as themselves and arrowheads made from flint.

There are 3D targets that are specifically build and designed to take hits from a crossbow.

You are shooting a 43 draw weight? I would say you are going to drop pretty significant after about 30 yds compared to a higher draw weight. Since the broadhead is only 125, it won't drop too much from a good 15 to 20 yds. Try shooting a little bit with a few different grained broadheads. See if you have a consistant shot group with at least 3 different grains. That should give you a general idea of how much your drop will be with that 125. Under the Grand National Archery Society Rules (Governing Body for the UK):

100 yards for men and 80 yards for ladies. Other distances standard for both sexes are 60 yards, 50 yards, 40 yards, 20 yards and 10 yards, juniors shoot the shorter distances relative to their age group.

FITA distances (International):

90mtrs for men and 70mtrs for ladies. The other distances standard for both sexes are 50 meters and 30 meters. In competition, after the men have shot 90mtrs they then shoot 70mtrs, the ladies (on separate targets) after shooting 70mtrs will shoot 60mtrs, both men and women will then shoot 50mtrs / 30mtrs. Men and women do not shoot on the same targets in this type of competition.

Competition Bows are usually available in auctions and tend to go for a higher price than hunting bows. I think most traditional shooter will benefit from shooting a competition bow in the off season. It is very relaxing and the training will help when 3D or hunting season rolls around. Shakespeare produced excellent competition and target bows. The Titan X 15 introduced in 1969, it is very similar to the Professional but did not have stabilizer or sights and is a good mid-priced bow. In 1969 The Supreme X16 was also introduced. It was the entry level tournament bow and was 66 inch AMO but had many of the characters of the Titan and Professional.

A quiver is a container for arrow, bolts and/or darts. The quiver can be attached in different positions on the archers body. There are several different quivers, such as the belt, back, ground and bow quiver that are all worn differently depending on where the archer wants to carry it and they all attach differently. Wikipedia has the different ways a quiver is worn and how to attach it.

Making a bow is quite simple, you need 3 sticks (from wooden planks) and 3 string which can be obtained after slaying a spider.
