In Atheism an obelisk is a tall, pointed monument. They represent a tall, pointed monument.
What is an atheist that does not care about other people's religions?
This would be called "normal" behaviour. The popular thought by theists that atheists go around devoting a fair amount of their time hating god, religion and the religious is not factual. While some people do have unreasonable dislikes of things they have turned away from (bald people hating people with full heads of hair, tea drinkers tied in knots by the sight of a coffee house, etc) most people would see this as aberrant behaviour.
Why should you not believe in god?
There is no good reason to. Religions that preach "believe in my deity or you will go to hell" have no basis in fact and cannot prove the statement either way. The time required to show your belief and the accompanying rituals and requirements is time that could be better spent tending a vegetable garden, playing a sport, catching up on work or school, and many other productive things.
What year did Brennan Manning get quoted for saying the greatest single cause of atheism?
Brennan Manning said the single greatest cause of atheism is Christians. He was referring to the fact that many Christians talk about having faith and so on, but then do not act in a "Christian" fashion. This hypocrisy is said to have turned many away from Christianity and towards atheism.
How do you convert your friend to atheism?
The question you should be asking yourself is why you feel the need to persuade your friend to abandon her religious beliefs. That is a big step for most religious believers and is sure to create a discomfort in your friendship if your friend hasn't expressed a desire to leave her religious beliefs behind.
Friendly debate about religion between friends can be informative and interesting: it is good for friends to share ideas. Some friends have active and aggressive debates about religion. If there is mutual satisfaction with that debate then it's okay.
Children don't really get to choose their beliefs. In most denominations their parents make that choice for them and indoctrination begins in the cradle. Upon approaching adulthood many people begin to question their religious beliefs. If a friend is having doubts about their commitment to the religion in which they were raised, discussions about the atheistic point of view may be helpful.
However, if your friend has not expressed uncertainty and you are simply trying to get them to abandon their religious beliefs then you are overstepping the boundaries of friendship. In that case, you should question your need to take from your friend a source of comfort and community to which they choose to belong.
Answer:
Consider how you would feel if the shoe were on the other foot.
If one of your friends was a user of hard drugs, a swinger, Pastifarian (worshipping the Flying Spaghetti Monster), a member of the Church of the Subgenius (or any of the more mainline religions like Moslem, Hindu or Buddhist) and asked you to come to meet with him and his friends. Assuming it was pretty obvious that your friend fully expected that you would "see the light" and join up after this introduction. How would you feel?
Most people prefer to find their own way in these matters. Leave your friend alone or you'll have neither a convert or a friend.
You might also ask yourself what a Christian would have to do to convince you that there is a God. An Christian typically will be as strong in his convictions as you are and has the backing of hundreds of years of arguments for his position. What will you do if his arguments are better than yours? Are you ready to convert?

What are synonyms of the word 'atheist'?
Non-believer; Agnostic is similar but there are key differences Answer: On the positive side: Free thinker, non-religious, self directed, me
On the negative side: Damned soul, Wasted life, A person with a god shaped hole in their heart, Devil worshipper (the religious feel if you don't worship god, you've got to worship something!), Apostate, godless I think devil worshipper is a bit over the top. Worshipping Satan would almost have to be accepting God. Devil worship is just the dark side of Christianity.

Which president of India is r k Narayanan?
RK Narayan is a highly successful and influential author. Google him. He was not an Indian president!
There is no evidence that he was an atheist, but he was well known as a skeptic and, in Leonardo's day, disbelief in god would have been a heresy and expressing it extremely dangerous.
How do Humanists respond to justice?
Humanists place humanity as being of primary importance, so human dignity and concerns are what governs their philosophy. From this it is likely that if justice is done, and seen to be done and, as far as possible, human dignity is respected humanists would respond favourably.

Does Liz Claiborne support atheists?
Liz Claiborne was a renown New York fashion designer who died in 2007. Her clothing label lives on. Neither has anything to do with atheism.
In religions there are often traditions and laws about what must not be eaten (or worn). Atheism is not a religion and therefore has no laws or traditions and athiests generally eat what they like. Some are omnivores, others are are vegetarians, or combinations of either. Personally, I will eat most anything that does not try to eat me first.
Humanists do not have religious beliefs, but believe that people should be generally nice to each other and help each other out.
Some Humanists believe that religion can be damaging, and the British Humanist Society organised the recent "Atheist Bus" adverts which have made headlines worldwide with the slogan: "There's probably no god. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life". The word "Probably" was included to conform to advertising standards in the UK.
This summary from the British Humanist Association website explains it wuite well:
"Humanism is an approach to life based on humanity and reason - humanists recognise that moral values are properly founded on human nature and experience alone and that the ams of morality should be human welfare, happiness and fulfillment. Our decisions are based on the available evidence and our assessment of the outcomes of our actions, not on any dogma or sacred text....
"Humanists believe that we have only one life, it is our responsibility to make it a good life, and to live it to the full"
What do atheists think of Madeleine O'hare today?

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle."
This was said by Brennan Manning, an American priest.
This quote can also be found on the song "Intro" by the Christian metalcore band War of Ages.
The quote can also be found in the intro to the song "What If I Stumble" by DC Talk(a popular 90's Christian rap/rock/alternative band).
What do atheists believe about interracial dating?
While they have no unified doctrine, they tend to lack the moral objections to interracial dating that come from religious teachings. That said, there is no way to answer for every atheist.
Answer:
The only uniform characteristic of atheists is that they do not see any evidence for the existence of gods or other deities or supernatural beings. Aside from that there is no "Atheist Code of Principles or Moral Standards," secret handshake, uniform or guidance booklets. So there is no atheist position on interracial dating. Most probably would feel it is up to the couple involved.
Well if he's going to church he could learn something that's against his beliefs or for it. He could always keep that in the back of his mind. But to upset his family and friends I don't think its worth to tell them that. He also gets to spend time with them by going to church. He doesn't have to contribute in the church or anything like that. Right.
My answer would be telling his family that he doesn't believe. First of all, you have to have faith to believe atheism in the first place. Personally I am not a fan of atheism because it is against my beliefs as a christian. And anyway, who would seriously believe their ancestors were really monkeys!!!! And all atheism is an excuse for not believing in a God.
Another Thought
As the question is worded "what is worse" then the answer would depend on the person.
An ethical person would not go anywhere or do anything that they do not personally believe in, unless they were doing it specifically to "save the feelings" of others.
Sometimes the imperative of honesty requires us to "stand up and be counted" no matter what the personal consequences. If the person in question feels they must do one (go to church and be a hypocrite) or the other (admit their beliefs and hurt their family) then maybe they haven't looked into other options.
For example: Don't do either. Find a way to excuse yourself for attending church without being too "in your face" about your beliefs. Saying you are not sure or looking into your spiritual options might work.
Answer:
"Worse" is not an adjective that can be applied to this question, these are simply to options in the spectrum of options open in this situation.
Going to church as an atheist is like attending a class in Fourier Transforms in a foreign language - a good chance to count bricks in the church wall. Atheists in churches will often spend time noticing who else in the building is there under duress. Often this number is quite significant.
"Coming out" is problem for the family (maybe) but may be welcomed by some relatives who are of the same opinion. Vegans and other folks with "contrary" views face all of the same problems. The major problem is that theist relatives may launch into extended programs to "save the sinner" spoiling everyone's fun and eventually driving the atheist(s) or moderates away.
