Can you mix NyQuil and lorazepam 0.5mg?

Per multiple pharmacist their recommendation in regards to taking nyquil while on diazepam. "take gel cap version as they do not contain alcohol content the oral

suspension does. Nyquil contains a sedating antihistamine( doxylamine succinate) but an important fact it's the alcohol content in

liquid formula contributes to extreme drowsiness in conjunction with doxylamine . By taking gel caps you still get sedating effects of nyquils but greatly avoid potential interaction of alcohol and diazepam. If perhaps u already have taken oral suspension

it's prob going to cause extreme drowsiness

and prolong sleep followed by potential

hangover Like symptoms ie nausea Headache Headache. If you experience shortness breath, bradycardia get medical attention ASAP. In short while taking diazepam only take nyquil gel caps to b on safe side

Can anyone tell me how long you must wait to have a drink after taking 1mg of generic Ativan?

First, assess how intoxicated you are from the Ativan (if at all). If you don't feel intoxicated from the Ativan and it's been 8hrs since your last dose, you can drink IN MODERATION! (one 12oz beer or 5oz wine or 1.5oz spirits) If you want to get drunk from alcohol, you have to wait 36 hours.

Is it ok to take suboxone and Ativan in the same day?

I am on 24mg of Suboxone and 3mg of Klonopin. These are maintenance drugs for me, so I have a tolerance, so do not go off that.

Are you being prescribed both of these drugs by the same doc? These are very sedating drugs and mixing without doctor's supervision can be very dangerous.

If you must - just be aware how you react to each drug on it's own. If you are not sure, than wait several hours before taking the ativan. You can just take half to see how you react.

Lastly, the dosages are to be considered... just please be careful if this is something you are doing without your doctors knowledge. Hope this helps.

Would Ativan still be good if expired date is 2006?

Well, I am pretty sure that Ativan is one of those drugs whose chemistry doesn't change drastically when out of date. The only thing I have noticed with benzodiazapines is that the effects are decreased depending on how long they have been expired. BUT, you do NOT want to do this with just ANY medications. With medications such as antibiotics the chemistry in the medication completely changes into something totally different and maybe even unsafe!

Why is Valium often perceived by doctors in a more negative manner than the more potentfaster-acting and potentially more habit-forming benzos Xanax Klonopin Ativan etc?

I wouldn't say that Xanax, Klonopin, or Ativan are more habit-forming than Valium. Valium is just as addictive and potent as those three, if not more potent and addictive. I have been prescribed all 4 at some time or another to help with my sleep disorder, and I would say that the Valium lasted longer and had a greater sedating effect than the other 3, even when comparing a relatively small dosage of Valium to a higher dosage of any of the other 3.

Is lorazepam an MAOI?

No, not at all.

Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine and it is used principally for insomnia, but has other uses as well.

SSRIs are anti-depressants and are also used for some anxiety disorders (like OCD or panic disorder).

What would happen if you get off Ativan after being on it for 25 years?

You will absolutely with out a doubt go through withdrawals, and not some easy ones either.

One would have to seek help from their family physician and work out a plan to slowly cut down monthly then weekly etc.., but if this person was on Ativan for 25 years, it would be a very long detoxing, quite possibly over a year, but at least a year most definitely.

If you were to just stop, cold turkey, you would become so very ill that by the second day you would think you were dieing and wish you were dead. And believe me you would find a hospital for help.

You would not be able do to it on your own, you would need first, the help of your physician.

My advice to this person who may want to get off Ativan and has been on them for 25 years, please go see your Physician immediately, DO NOT try to stop the pills on your own, this is quite dangerous.

thank you

Yes, clonidine has been used to reduce symptoms of withdrawal and physical dependence from chronic benzodiazepine use as with Ativan or Xanax.

How long after taking 1mg of Ativan is it safe to have a few beers.. Especially if you only take the Ativan on an as needed basis and not daily?

Alcohol intensifies the effect of benzodiazepines (such as Ativan, Xanax & Klonopin). This can lead to oversedation, incoordination, slurring of speech, and increased risk of falls and accidents.

Can you take Ativan 5 mg and Doxepin 10mg together?

Yes you can take the 2 together, however make sure you can dedicate at 7hrs of sleep when taking these if they are being used as a sleep aid. If these two medications are being used as treatment for any type of mental illness (ie) bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD and so on..then it would be wise to not operate any heavy machinery or make any important decisions. The doxepin alone is a type of sedative and adding a benzodiazepine will most likely either make you extremely tired and may affect your motor skills. As with any medication be sure to always talk to a pharmacist if you are still unsure.

When Miramex prescribed for RLS during sleep after 3 days felt worse and stopped I was told it was initally for Parkinson's which scared me I also take 1 mg Ativan at night what is known about Miramex?

Miramex is prescribed for RSL. Why are you asking the question online? Did you ask your psychopharm. Stopping any med on your own is not good. Many meds take more than 3 days of experience before deciding on its effectiveness for the given patient. Did you tell your doc that you had stopped? If you are unable to trust your doc, then get a new one; but please, don't make these decisions without assistance.

Can you take 4 year old expired Ativan?

I have some that's exactly 4 yrs old. It just loses its potency and wont work well, you'll have to take more. It may also not be that good for you. You can usually tell its state but not potency by its smell and color. If they look old and smell weird or bad, its iffy. The Bottle should have been closed the whole time and the pills should be clean. So yes you can, I do. They just don't work.

Is it safe to take haloperidol Lorazepam at the same time?

These drugs are typically given together in an injection as an emergency measure to calm an aggressive patient. They are safe when given together but should be administered by a medical professional in a setting where the patient can be monitored closely, as both medications can cause side effects including low blood pressure, confusion and unconsciousness.
