What is better atomic bomb or nuke?
Atomic and nuke bombs are thesame
Atoms are very very small but there is alot of energy i them when the bomb explodes the atoms (that are very senciteve) colapse and realise a huge amount of energy. scientists are stiil suprised how so much energy can be stored in so little space
B29 that dropped the Atomic Bomb?
The B-29 super fortress that dropped the first atomic bomb was called Enola Gay (named after the pilots mother)
What dates atomic bomb dropped on japan?
The
atomic bombings on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
, Japan were conducted by the United States
during the final stages of World War II
.
These two events represent the only use of
atomic weapons during that war (
6 & 9 August 1945).
What were the capabilities of the atomic bomb?
to KILL every one in sight to KILL every one in sight to KILL every one in sight
What are the names of American generals during the atomic bomb dropping in Japan?
Eisenhower, MacArthur, I think Patton was already dead by then.
What was the project for the atomic bomb?
the project for the atomic bomb was called...............................the Manhattan project
Above are not my words, I believe I can add some Clarity, or possibly confusion. I just graduated from college less than a year ago. Now I'm a Grad Student, and a really green one. I would also like to state that my grammar is horrible, also I will try to refrain from using words and concepts that only a physicist would understand.
The Military portion of this experimentation of these extremely complex reactions, was called "The Manhattan Project", however, there is much more to Nuclear physics than atomic bombs. The original name for this project, which started in 1939 was "Development of Substitute Materials". During World War 2 the British also had there own Nuclear program which was codenamed "Tube Alloys" Their project was absorbed into our own. The fact is we (The U.S.) are credited by far the most for the atomic bomb coming together and working, it was truly an effort by several nations, but only the U.S. refered to it as "The Manhattan Project" which as I hinted on earlier wasn't the original codename. The United States got pretty much all the credit, it's worth noting the fact that our interest in these materials, such as Uranium-238 or plutonium, in fact when the first atomic bomb was dropped, unless you were working in the nuclear program, you had never heard of plutonium, interesting fact, the british "Tube Alloys" program was called that because of plutonium. Something else that is not very well known is that the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, worked in 2 very different ways. Little Boy used a type of Nuclear reaction referred to as "Gun Type", Fat Man was an implosion-type Nuclear weapon. The implosion type was more practical. The first Atomic Bomb to ever be detonated was the implosion-type which occured during what was called "The Trinity Test". One of the main catalysts that pushed Atomic Bombs into political view was the "Einstein-Szilard" Letter, which was actually kind of a warning that it was theoretically possible to cause a chain reaction which would produce unheard of amounts of energy, but it also was a reccommendation for the U.S. to obtain as much Uranium ore as possible, this letter was sent around the Summer of 1939. Really this is more history of the development rather than the science of it. I really hope that this helps. For those of you who are intrigued by physics, lookup "Quantum Immortality" It's a thought experiment that is not hard to understand, but, it's implications are fascinating. I added all of this completely from my knowledge of the History of physics, if you find something I didn't quite get right, please feel free to add to this or edit this, just make sure that it is indeed incorrect before changing anything.
What was the first city to be leveled by a plutonium-based atomic bomb?
Nagasaki (Japan), 9 August 1945
Why did the US need to spend more than 2 billion dollars to produce the atomic bomb?
The vast majority of this was spent on nuclear infrastructure:
Where was the first atomic bomb set off?
The first atomic bomb was set off northwest of Alamogordo, New Mexico inside what is now White Sands Missile Range on July 16, 1945.
If you want to, the site is open for public tours twice a year on the first saturdays of April and October.
Why did us make the atomic bomb?
Fear that Nazi Germany would make one first and win WW2 using it. It was not until after the end of the war that it was discovered that the German nuclear program was only a very low priority program directed mostly at reactor development.
How the atomic bomb change America?
it basicly made an all out war disastrous and impossible, if the U.S.A got into an all out war then nucluar bombs would destroy the world. this knowledge made countries a tad more peaceful
What was the reason to make the Atomic bomb?
It was a race between the US and Germany, although that part of the war was over before it was built.
It was finished as an alternative to invading the home islands of Japan.
Oak Ridge was responsible for Uranium enrichment (oralloy) and small scale Plutonium production reactor (X-10) prototype development.
Hanford was responsible for operation of Plutonium production reactors (B-reactor, etc.) and fuel pellet reprocessing to extract Plutonium.
Nuclear explosives have been built weighing as little as 50 pounds to over 500 tons.
The two used in WW2 weighed about 5 tons.
The core of an atomic bomb explosion can reach temperatures of several millions of degrees Celsius, similar to the temperature at the center of the sun. This extreme heat is generated by the rapid release of energy from nuclear fission or fusion reactions.
When did Japan start to build the atomic bomb?
During the occupation of Japan, following WWII, US military intelligence officers discovered several Japanese "Cyclotrons" (used during atomic research); photographs were taken (which were later published), and the devices along with all other nuclear research material were quickly dumped into the ocean. Note-Some of the photographs were taken, as the devices were being thrown into the ocean.
How does an atomic bomb ignite?
In a fission bomb:
In a fusion bomb:
Are people still using atomic bombs today?
Atomic bombs have not been used in warfare since 1945. Nations have an arms control agreement called the Non-Proliferation Treaty to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, and most countries have committed to not use atomic bombs. However, some countries still possess these weapons as a deterrent.
Who ordered the atomic bombs to be dropped in World War 2?
Harry Truman, only after japan wouldn't work with the US
How did Albert Einstein contributed on making the atomic bomb?
Albert Einstein did not directly contribute to making the atomic bomb. However, his famous equation, E=mc^2, which describes the relationship between mass and energy, laid the theoretical foundation for the development of atomic weapons. Einstein urged the United States government to research atomic energy and warned them of the potential dangers of nuclear weapons.
