Hi. The thermostat is on the front of the engine as you look at it. It is encased in the pump that is going towards the fan. you have to release 2 nuts and pull the pump from the engine. there you will see the thermostat in the cylindrical part of the casing. hope this helps

It's a pain. The air filter sits in a housing on top of the engine -- that big black plastic box. You have to remove the whole box. It's fastened by 4 rubber grommets that fit into 4 posts. You have to disconnect everything connected to the box; then you have to pull up on it. It will seem impossible, and in fact it may be hard to do without breaking some of the plastic. But with enough tugging in the right places, you will be able to pull the housing from the engine. Then there are a whole bunch of torx screws to take out, which will allow you to remove a large piece of plastic that then exposes the air filter. Fun! Brilliant design!

according to the book:

first take off the lower tailgate trim,

then take off the upper tailgate trim,

then you can take the high level brake light unit off by undoing a bolt and sliding it to one side.

Once it is off the bulbs just pull out apparently; they're 12v 2.3w

There may be short cuts to avoid taking the whole tailgate trim off; I'll find out when I try it myself in a few days time :-)

There's no shortcut, you have to take off both trims, but it wasn't really that hard.

Do only one side at a time. Undo brake fluid reservoir filler cap and keep an eye on the fluid level through the process. Remember to replace the cap at the end. Release hand brake. Chock the wheels. Use jack stands and all the usual safety precautions. Remove the wheel.

Caliper comes apart with two bolts from the inside of the assembly like most.

Careful with the sensor wires and brake fluid hoses. Remove old Pads.

Piston must turn clockwise as you push in the piston, in order to get the new pads and caliper back on the disk rotor. A universal six sided tool which fits on a 3/8 square drive ratchet, locates in the slots in the piston to make this easier. There is also a special Audi tool, but the universal one works as well. Purchase from auto shop. Can be done (sometimes) with circlip pointy nose pliers, but quite difficult.

Turn clockwise as you push in the piston. Watch the fluid level in the reservoir as you do it. Once completely bottomed in the housing you are ready to replace the pads and bolt the caliper back together.

Use silicon paste to lubricate and anti seize in hot moving parts.

Place the cap back on the fluid filler and test one side at a time by depressing the brake pedal a dozen times until everything seats. Check fluid level. Do the other side.

The front speakers are pretty easily removed, pry off the speaker cover (it is attached with a really sticky gum-like adhesive in 3 places) and un-screw the speaker with a short Phillips head screwdriver. Re-installation is the reverse.

The rear speakers are a little harder but still do-able. Gently pry off the side cover just above the wood trim. I suggest using a medium sized flathead screwdriver covered with a soft cloth or rag to avoid scratching the wood. You are trying to loosen 3 pressure clips located just behind the wood, which are what holds the trim piece in place. (Note- The speaker grille is part of the trim, it will be irreparable damaged if you try to remove it)

Once the trim is off, unscrew the speaker and remove. Note also that the rear speakers are powered by the sub-woofer, in order to get sound from new speakers you will need to run new wire to the new speakers if you aren't replacing with Audi speakers.

I replaced my Audi delta radio with a Blaupunkt and the harness connected the subwoofer fine but as one of my rears was blown, I went with aftermarket speakers and had to wire both apart from the new head unit.

Grasp each side of headrest and roll forward or aft to get desired tilt.
