Audi a4 radio unlock?

Dealership must access code and will reset. They charge between $30-$50 to do it. Get the code from them so you can reset it next time.

More Info.

In your manual book (Sound System Symphony) dealer gave you had a radio card which came with Serial number & Code number of your radio unit.

Every time you change battery or car doesn't have power source the radio will have "SAFE" displayed on your radio screen. It is time to reset your radio.

To cancel the electronic code (Anti-theft coding) here is step from Audi manual book. That what I did for my Audi A4 2001 1.8T Quattro Turbo

Hint: you must have radio code number from dealer!!!!

1) Turn radio on - the word SAFE appears in the display

2) Pres the P.SCAN and RBDS button simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" light up in the display.

3) release buttons. Do not, under any circumstances, continue holding them down or press them once again. This would cause the radio to consider the number "1000" to be the input code number.

4) Use station buttons 1...4 to enter the code number on your "Radio Card" from manual book. Use button 1 to enter the first digit of the code number, button 2 to enter the second digit and so on. Station buttons 5 & 6 cannot be used.

Once the code is shown in the display, press the PSCAN and RBDS buttons again simultaneously and hold them down until the word "SAFE" appears in the display.

5) release buttons. Soon afterwards, a frequency will displayed.

6) THE RADIO CAN NOW BE USED AGAIN.

Repeat all the steps above if the radio is failed to pick your code

Good luck

What motor oil viscosity need for your Audi a4 quatro?

You need to use an oil with a VW 502 certification and an ACEA A3/B4 rating. These oils are normally 5w40 or 0w40. Personally I use Mobil One 0w40 and a Napa Gold filter. I change the oil every 5,000-10,000 miles depending on how the car is used during that oil cycle. For instance, last winter 90% of my driving was short, 1.5 mile trips with a lot of idling in cold weather. It has been only 4k miles since last Oct and it is going in this week (4-5-12) for a change. The change before that was mostly 80+ mph 100 mile trips twice per week, I changed that out at 11k miles as well as sending a sample out for analysis and it still had a plenty of reserve left. I could have gone another 2-3k miles. I will also be sending out this 4.2k change for analysis.

The manual recommends changing every 7,500 miles with VW 502 certified oil under average driving conditions

In summary, the Audi 1.8 and 2.0 turbos, as well as the 2.8 v6, require VW 502 certified oil. I use Mobil One 0w40 which has that cert (read the back of the bottles). I am at the 175,000 mile marker on my 2002 model Quattro with the sport package and it runs stronger than ever and burns not a drop of oil. It has a stage 2 programmed computer with #32 injectors bringing horsepower to 225. Its very strong on the top end, pulling strong from 60 on up to about 145 mph with 15 lbs. of boost (stock was about 7 lbs. of boost) yet pulls very well from 2,500 rpms as the torque was also bumped from 170 to 275 lb. ft.

It is imperative that you change the timing belt every 70k miles. It is an "interference" engine so if the belt or tensioner fails, the engine is junk as the pistons will collide with the valves.

How do you replace hazard switch on 2001 Audi A4?

If you pull the plastic cover off over the triangle for your hazard switch and pull the switch out there is a plug in on the back of the box remove the plug in and you will have the hazard switch out its a small 1X2" box and if your problem is your blinkers or hazards not working you can take apart the box and inside there is a circuit board with two relays one for turn signals the other for hazards. On the a4 b5 the points on these relays corrode and causes there to be no connection. Use a small screw driver to clean the points up it will save you 50 dollars I did it to my 2001 a4 last week and it solved the problem. There's a great DIY on YouTube for this.

How can you bypass a transponder key on a 1996 Audi A4?

If you have one transponder key take it to a hardware store or Lowes / Homedepot and tell them "you want a key just to get in the door". Take the transponder key and duck tape or some other means of your choice right under the key ignition switch. The plain key will work now as the module inside the column is reading the signal from your taped key. I did this to my daughters car as it only came with one key and it works great. Saves you about $200.00. Good luck!

Where is the tcm for your 2004 Audi a4?

Under the rear cover of the transmission(yes, inside the transmission). I'm only familiar with the 2wd version, in which you must remove the crossmember and rear transmission mount first, and then a big ring of bolts holding the cover on, and you'll lose about 5 quarts of oil when you pull the cover.

Where is the fuse panel on an Audi A4?

Open the driver's side door and on side of the dash (where the dash meets the door) there is a plastic plate covering the fuse panel. Use a flat object such as a credit card or screw driver to pry it off. It should come off without a great deal of force.

What does TDV mean in Audi A4?

Direct from Audi UK, "TDV" stands for Technology Development Vehicle.

It basically denotes that a diesel particulate filter is present on the Audi in question but the vehicle was produced just prior to (or during) the legislation process regarding DPF's. The abbreviation 'DPF' was not yet officially in existence so Audi used the 'TDV' letters to identify the diesel particulate filter.

Explained by a very helpful chap at Audi UK on the 'phone - 22/03/2012.
