Does the Australian Shepherd really guard the house?
My dog is half Aussie Shepherd and border collie and yes they will protect you and the house. They are very protective of their owners, they have really good hearing and agility, they train well, they are very friendly around owners families and people the owner will introduce them to. Once the pet senses no harm it will go to that person. Of course it will bark when anyone is near the house, my pet is on the alert at all time. They do not like to lay around as they are active dogs.
As every Shepherd and Australian is great guardian dog. You can read in related links about this breed - information and history.

Are wimerin ers good dogs to have?
Weimaraner's are happy, loving, intelligent, cheerful, and affectionate. Good with children. Without the proper exercise they will be very rambunctious and difficult to control. They learn quickly but will get bored if the training is the same thing over and over again. This breed needs firm, experienced training starting at puppyhood, with an owner who understands how to be a dog's pack leader, or they can become stubborn and willful. Without this proper leadership, they can become combative with other dogs. This hunting dog has a strong prey instinct and should not be trusted with small non-canine animals such as hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs.Socialized well with people, places, things and other animals. Brave, protective and loyal, makes a good guard and watchdog. Weimaraners absolutely crave leadership. They want to know what is expected of them and for how long. If this is not made consistently clear in their head they will not be stable minded, may be stressed, possibly developing separation anxiety, becoming destructive and restless. Owners should not be harsh, but calm with a natural air of authority to their demeanor. These things are instinctually essential to having a happy, behaved, balanced dog. Give your Weim plenty of extensive exercise, or he will become very restless and over excited. Because this breed is so full of energy, the first thing they need to learn is sit. This will help prevent jumping, as they are strong dogs and will knock over elderly or children by accident. This breed especially should not be hit to discipline, they become wary easily. Once they have a fear of someone/something, they look to avoid and training is difficult. They are so eager to please, and motivated by reward (food or praise) Once a trick is learned, the dog will leap to repeat for praise. Although they are often mistaken as dumb, because they have such focus, if the trick or owners request isn't their focus at the time, it will not occur! Spend a lot of time with short leash walk, next to you. If left to run ahead they will pull like a train and start to believe they are alpha, as pack leader goes first. This breed likes to bark, and needs to be corrected if it becomes excessive. Very hardy, with a good sense of smell, and a passionate worker, the Weimaraner can be used for all kinds of hunting.
What do you need to leave for your Australian Shepherd puppy while you are at school?
If you are leaving for the day while your at school some food and some water, not too much though puppies like to drink and eat as much as they can and can over do it, a toy but not one he can hurt himself with and if you have a little bed for him to be comfortable to lay on although not necessary. Don't forget to put newspaper down incase he goes to the bathroom if no one is there to take him outside. Puppies tend to sleep so I'm sure while you are gone it will sleep a lot.

No one can tell you the breed of your dog without seeing a picture. Even so, it is hard to tell when your dog is still a puppy. Wait until your Dog is fully grown then take a picture and ask around. (I could give you a good idea of what breed it is if I could see a picture).
What is the oldest Australian Shepherd to live?
My family's dog was a Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. She would have been 16 today but was put to sleep several months ago. She was born June 24th, 1993 and put to sleep February 4th, 2009 which would make her lifespan 15 years, 7 months and 11 days. To our knowledge, she was the oldest Australian Shepherd to ever live. We have contemplated submitting her records to some sort of official organization, but so far have not. I have a Blue Merle Australian Shepherd named Sasha. She was born on June 9, 1993 and is registered with the Australian Shepherd Club of America, Inc. She turned 16 on June 9, 2009. My vet said she is probably one of the oldest living aussies. We are so blessed to have her.

Are Australian Shepherds good with cats?
It depends on the dog and how well it has been socialized with cats. Mine, however, loves them. Aussies are herding dogs and therefore more likely to chase cats, but less likely to harm them(Though not impossible). It's best to find out how the individual dog would react.
How much do you feed miniature Australian shephards?
It depends on their size and age; check on the bag/can label for a guideline.
Male Australian Shepherds can be as big as 50 to 65 pounds, and females can weight as much as 40 to 55 pounds, so, yes, I'd say you could buy a regular size Australian Shepherd. I'm not sure where all you're searching to find one, but you may consider looking in other places. Some suggestions would be the classifieds section in your local papers, Craigslist and eBay.

What are common problems with 97 Chevy k1500?
Fuel Guage accuracy seems to be an issue with GM trucks. Rattles and squeaks in the interior. Intake gaskets also can fail. Those are the most common things. Of course any used vehicle is kind of like playing Russian roulette, any new vehichle I've had is that way too though.
I haven't had any major problems with my 97' gmc. Everything problem was pretty small except for replacing the heater core. Like any old vehicle replacing the breaks and roters is common. Radiator leak, tires, oil cleaner, new break cylinders, bleed brakes, flushing out the radiator, and keeping up with the oil change. Pretty much all the things mechanics or auto part stores tell you to do after so many miles are the things you need to do.
