The Gerber Company initiated this revolution in infant feeding by expanding the scope of the canned foods industry. According to the Gerber company history, in 1927 Dorothy Gerber laboriously hand-strained vegetables for her seven-month-old daughter, Sally, and urged her husband, Daniel, to consider manufacturing stained baby food at the Gerber family's Fremont Canning Company. The next year, the company introduced strained peas, prunes, carrots, and spinach to the market.

Can a parakeet eat baby food?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. They would choke on it because it is too small and hard.

Actually, yes, they can eat some baby foods and cereals. My daughter has hand raised multiple orphaned birds (mocking birds, thrashers, starlings, ect...) and has fed all of them baby food, usually chicken or turkey (yes, like cannibalism), some vegetable types, by sucking the food up into a plastic 1cc syringe (the kind without a needle, like vets give you to give animals liquid oral medicines), and when the bird is hungry, squeeze the food into the back of his mouth. She also fed them chopped earthworms, pieces of crickets, soft bodied insects and caterpillars.

Most birds have incredibly fast metabolisms and need to be fed every 20 minutes to every hour, they will use the bathroom immediately after being fed, so cover your hand with paper towels or feed them on an old towel, but at least they sleep through the night.

The price of any commodity depends on the quantity you want to buy, the season -- for produce -- and your location.

If you buy potatoes from the grower just after harvest, the sack will cost less than if you buy the potatoes after they have been stored, trucked to your location and handled by brokers and merchandisers.

How much does baby food cost?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The cost of baby food for one month varies widely on different factors including: the age of your baby and his food needs, whether you are formula or breastfeeding, and whether your baby has allergies or a special diet.

If you are formula feeding a 6-month-old, and just starting him on solid foods, expect to spend about $100 on formula and about $1 per jar of baby food. If he eats one jar per meal for three meals a day, you would spend about $84 on pureed baby food.

You can save a significant amount of money by breastfeeding your baby and making your own pureed baby food.

Can cats have baby food?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Baby food often contains onion or garlic powder, grapes, citrus fruits, and other human foods that are toxic for cats. If you really want to feed this to your cat, please check which foods are toxic for him, and then make sure the baby food doesn't have any of those things. Baby food will often have sugar too, which is also bad. So, it's best not to.

How often should a 2 month old baby eat?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm not a doctor but I've given my 2 month old baby a taste of ice cream and yogurt and now I've given her some apples n blueberry baby food and she's had no problem. Do not give honey or peanut butter or anything that can cause food allergies. I give mine very little in between breastfeedings because she has doubled her birth weight and wants few every hour from the breast so I e found the food helps keep her happy longer. It I only let her taste certain things and never replace her actual feedings she still needs the nutrients of breast or formula milk. Hope this helps! Never give babies real cows milk tho they cannot digest the milk proteins.

How long can you freeze baby food?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are many things to consider with frozen food when answering this question. The first one is how long will frozen food stay fresh from a quality standpoint, and how long will it last from a safety standpoint. We will answer the latter first.

Frozen food will last indefinitely! Yes, that's right! As long as the food was safe to eat before you put it in the freezer, and the freezer has maintained a freezing temperature throughout its storage, the food will be completely safe to eat after being defrosted.

Now to answer the first, and more complex question. How long will frozen food stay fresh? This is where it gets a little iffy. Different types of foods keep their quality longer than others. See Related Links for storage time recommendations.

If your asking in price that's hard to say. Depends upon what's in the jar. .90 cents to $1.16 ea. to $2.32 ea. this is hard to say. Go to the store and price on the shelf. If your asking how much is 8oz. that is just a little less than an everyday campbells soup can.
