you don't exactly get into pointe. you don't have to be a certain age. you start pointe when your teacher thinks your ready. you need to have the right legs that are strong ,powerful, graceful, and can handle any difficult moves that are put to them.
You need to have a lot of strength to be able to stay on pointe. If you are getting your first pair of pointe shoes going to the national ballet school's 'The Shoe room, is a perfect way to decide what kind of shoe (out of millions) you need. The Shoe room is in Toronto Ontario and appointments only take 20 minutes!

Well, you shouldn't think you will get it for sure. To catch your teachers attention, try hard! Also, when your teacher corrects you smile and show the teacher that you understand your correction by checking yourself in the mirror and adjusting! It will all come together if you try your best and don't act like you are the best! As well, if you do get the part, use facaials, it might feel akward, but it makes the performance a million times better! Good Luck.

Not particularly. I am on a tap and jazz competitive team and it is mandatory that I take ballet and everyone on the team takes ballet. Ballet is where most dance technique come from. But, if you are doing a toe stand, or toe knocks or wings or anything along those lines in tap, and and you turn your feet in, yes, you will definitely ruin that ballet technique.

No! I do both and I am improving in both especially ballet not going bakwards. I find it silly to think that because although in the Royal Ballet School they say so how could I be improving and my dance teacher be praising me more if tap dancing ruins Ballet technique!

for pointe, u need a toe pad which is for beginners which feels something like felt. for advanced learners toe pads will be plastic or possibly u wont have one at all! but also for pointe, u need excellent strength of muscles and u need t have a strong point of ur toes to make ur pointe shoes look nice and pointed. u just have 2 keep on trying. that's all. i hoped that help.
PS. u might want to be balanced on a barre first or if u are at home. then try doing being balanced by the wall by putting 1 hand on the wall and balance urself. as u get better then u can try doing it without the wall. never put 2 much weight on your toes the first time. do it bit by bit and everyday. never put too much stress!
