Which angel did Leonardo da Vinci paint in baptism of christ?

"Some art historians credit both angels to Leonardo, while others theorize that Sandro Botticelli may have completed the second angel. Leonardo's (and possibly Boticelli's) work in this painting is characteristic of a category known as the High Renaissance style, a style that was newly developing in Florence at this time. The hazy, three-dimensional angels stand out clearly against Verrocchio's portions of the painting, which are done in the more stiffer and flatter Early Renaissance style."

What is the difference between a Sikh naming ceremony and a christening?

A Sikh naming ceremony for a child is simply for naming. What happens in Sikh services is that the reader of the Sikh Holy Book flips to a random page and reads the hymn for the day. That happens regardless. If someone has a child to be named, they listen to the first letter of the hymn and will name their child based on that letter. Often they will discuss it there and tell one of the administrators and an announcement is made to the congregation. Some will go home and think about it. There are 35 letters in the Gurmukhi script, the alphabet of the Sikh people (it was created by one of the Sikh prophets to include the many languages the hymns of the Sikh Holy Book were composed in). A naming ceremony for an adult usually occurs if he/she has chosen to be baptized (generally adults get baptized for they are old enough to make the commitments required) and doesn't have a Sikh name or never got his/her name Sikh name chosen in the manner above. I don't know too much about christenings. You can still be a Sikh even if you haven't had this naming ceremony as a child.

What elements of Mark's description of Jesus' baptism does Luke change?

Compared to Mark's Gospel, Chapter 3 contains a more elaborate account of John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus, linked to Luke's genealogy of Jesus. Some scholars believe that Luke's Gospel was originally intended to begin with John the Baptist, as does Mark, and that chapters 1 and 2 were later additions. Luke liked to place his drama in a historical context and was at pains to identify the year of Jesus' baptism, which he did by specifying the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, as well as mentioning Pontius Pilate, Herod Antipas and Philip.

In Mark's Gospel, only Jesus saw the dove and heard the voice from heaven. In Luke's Gospel, it seems that everyone present saw the dove and heard the voice from heaven.

Both Matthew and Luke are reliant on the Gospel of Mark but, in the story of Jesus' baptism, Luke is closer to the original than is Matthew. For example, Mark 1:4 and Luke 3:3 have John the Baptist preaching baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Matthew at 3:1 was unwilling to have Jesus involving himself in a baptism of "repentance for the remission of sins" and so omits that line.

What are five major effects of baptism?

In Catholic Theology, a valid baptism renders the following effects:

* imprints an indelible spiritual character upon the soul

* infuses grace into the soul which becomes the dwelling of the Holy Ghost * cleanses the stain of Original Sin (though not the effects) * cleanses all actual sins * suspends all temporal punishment due for any previous actual sins

How does baptism celebrate God as a trinity?

The act of Baptism does not directly celebrate God as trinity. It is used to show the resurrection of Christ. Living (standing), crucified and buried (put under water), and resurrecting (Being brought back up). It shows Christ's resurrection.

Additional Answer:

Nowhere in the entire Bible is God celebrated/identified as a trinity godhead. Always the Father and Word who became the Son. The Holy Spirit is called 'My Spirit' by God and is aka the Spirit of Christ which is the awesome power sustaining all things emanating from the Father through the Son.

Baptism then is the outward sign of the new disciple of Christ. It symbolically shows the old-self being immersed under water as going into the grave (dying) and the resurrecting new-self being born. The promised gift of God's Holy Spirit is then given to that person, begetting him/her into the God Family to be born at the sounding of the 7th trumpet at Christ's one and only return:

John 14:23-24New King James Version (NKJV)

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

Also an answer: If the reception is at an upscale banquet hall most people give in accord with the cost per meal per person. Between $50 to $75 or $100 you can never go wrong.

When do Jehovah witness get baptised?

1Peter 3:21 says that baptism corresponds to the request to God "for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ". Jehovah's Witnesses believe that to have a good conscience we need to know what we are doing, have sound judgement. Therefore a person will become a Jehovah's Witness when he or she gets baptized and only after gaining exact knowledge of the only true God, Jehovah and his purpose. That can only happen when you are old enough to know you are making a life decision.

What is the difference between a baptism and a dedication?

In most Protestant denominations, a "dedication" is a ceremony for an infant or a young child, and basically represents the parents making a public declaration that they want to bring the child up in that faith (depending on the age of the child at the time, they may or may not understand what is going on).

A baptism (again: in most Protestant denominations), by contrast, is a ceremony where the person being baptized has made a personal decision to follow Christ and wishes to make that decision public by undergoing baptism.

The reason I've specified "Protestant" up to now is that Roman Catholics, and a few other sects, baptize infants. Some Protestants don't consider infant baptism to have any real meaning and may insist that new converts be baptized as adults, even if they were previously members of a faith which practiced infant baptism.
