If you are a teen or child, you can talk to your parents. If your parents still folloiw the Catholic ways OR they dont attend church, I'm not sure what you would do. I am in this situation right now. My parents dont attend church but we are "classified" as Catholics. I have gone to Faith Baptist Church with my friends many times and every time I feel that it is where I belong. I am building up courage to talk to my parents about this "issue" and hope you can build up that courage to. Christ will give you the strength and He will be the light that guides your way. What is the difference between Baptist and Lutherans?
Both of these religions worship the same God, believe in the same God and sing hymns of praises, teach from the Bible, etc. The primary differences are in how these things are taught. There are differences in the manner in which Holy Communion is offered, too ... the Baptists use grape juice and the Lutheran's use actual wine, both of which are acceptable in the Christian community at large. The dogma's of these churches are different, too. The worship service of a Lutheran parish is usually filled with many "rituals" and sung liturgies, whereas the Baptist parish service appears lots less formal and without all the "bells and smells" of a liturgical service. In essence:
For Lutherans baptism is a means of grace and the mode of application is not important, but is usually delivered by the sprinkling of water. There is no proper age for baptism, as the work in baptism is seen to be God's, thus infants are baptized as soon as possible. The only necessities for a valid baptism are "water and the Word;" and baptisms must be performed in the trinitarian formula (in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.) Adults previously 'unbaptized' also receive this. Godparents make a vow to spiritually nurture a baptized infant in his faith until he "affirms" a role in his own faith in the vows of his confirmation. Baptism itself in likened to adoption, where God claims the child. For Baptists, baptism is a testimony of a preceding act of repentance and the acceptance of Christ as a personal Saviour. It is administered by full immersion as symbolic of the total washing away of sins. Only persons of an age to decide this for themselves and make a personal decision can be considered saved. If you had been baptized in a Lutheran Church as a baby you would be considered unbaptized in a Baptist context.
Another difference is the official doctrine of what the bread and wine represent in Communion. Lutherans hold to the idea that the elements actually are the body and blood of Christ (although not going as far as the Transubstantiation of the Roman Catholic church). Baptists regard them as a symbolic representation of the body and blood. Lutherans have a stricter code of interpretation of the Bible based on the distinction of "Law and Gospel" and do not allow for personal revelations on salvific matters, while some Baptists tend to stress a more experiential relationship on matters of faith. As a historic and confessional Church, Lutherans are liturgical in worship and follow the order of the Mass. Baptists tend to be less formal in worship style. Lutherans are also sacramentarian in theology and worship. This accounts for many of the differences in belief and worship. Both Baptism and Holy Communion are, for Lutherans, sacraments and means of grace working towards sanctification and justification and hold a high place in worship. Baptists also observe the sacraments, but tend to be more commemorative than sacramentarian.
Can you become ordained online?
Yes and no: legitimacy is in the eyes of the beholder.
A minister can become legally ordained online with the Universal Life Church. The ULC's ordinations are recognized as legitimate by the United States government, and a minister of the ULC has access to all the rights and privileges as afforded by the law. The Universal Life Church welcomes individuals of all faiths and practices.
If you ascribe legitimacy to a traditional Christian doctrine, then no, these ordinations do not qualify. (See explanation below...)
We have to remember that the first Apostles were not trained in scripture. The New Testament wasn't even written yet. Can you become ordained online with legitimacy? What is your definition of legitimate? The reason I ask that is because I have been in ministry for 22 years and I have met many very kind and loving pastors in one denomination who would not be able to pastor a church in another denomination because of different training...for instance: four year bible college verses three years of seminary.
Certain denominations requires three years of seminary which happens to be one year LESS of bible college...yet since the bible college is not a seminary the pastor with an EXTRA year of bible education is NOT qualified to pastor in the other denomination with only three years of bible training required. Sounds silly huh? So...to answer the question: Ordination comes from the Holy Spirit...period. God calls people to do His work to help lives period.
So whether you have a piece of paper saying you are ordained or or "ordained" by elders at your church surrounding you and praying for you, you can still take advantage of people and be nasty to them or if you don't have that paper and change lives with love and service then you know that it's God doing the good work through you and qualifying you and not the paper qualifying you whether the paper is printed out from an online website or from your denomination. I hope I'm communicating myself effectively in this paragraph. What I'm saying is that the paper or the place or denomination doesn't matter. What matters is your relationship with Jesus. I have SEEN it all!
The fact of the matter is we are ALL called to evangelize! So we are all missionaries and teachers of the Word in one way or another. HOWEVER, accountability is needed and a circle of counsel of wise people is a good way of discerning if you are gifted and called to be ordained. I remember once years ago someone asking me WHO ordained me? And the reason he was asking me was because he was "stuck" on a power trip of some sort. I said, "The Holy Spirit"....and he said, "Oh."

Why do Baptists hate Catholics?
Baptists do not hate Catholics. I have been in and around Baptist churches for 43 years, and even in the most conservative, fundamentalist congregations, I have never heard anyone say they hate Catholics or describe the Catholic laity in lurid, slanderous terms.
However, there are Baptist congregations where the majority of the laity (and even the pastors) are former Catholics. The people in these congregations feel that the Catholic Church did not accurately teach them about God and salvation through Christ. Instead, they feel that the Catholic emphasis on sacraments and a supposedly infallible religious hierarchy to whom all humanity must blindly submit obscured the Gospel message that God saves those who turn to him in repentence and faith. These people may openly speak of their disappointment with the Church and their realization the Catholic hierarchy is not infallible and has deeply-entrenched theological and social problems. Many, many former Catholics have returned to the Christian faith through the Baptist chruch or other evangelical groups. In fact, there are single congregations in RI that have more converts from Catholicism than the entire American Catholic church has converts from all of Protestantism in the last 10 years.
Catholics need to realize that criticism of their hierarchy and questioning of their dogmas - either on biblical or logical grounds - does not constitute hatred or bigotry against Catholics themselves, even if that criticism at times sounds heated. Since Catholics believe their religious authorities are infallible and represent God on earth, there is no way that another religious group could ever show enough respect for them to satisfy Catholic expectations. The truth is that most evangelical groups seek to emphasize what all Christians have in common and want to work together on social issues - although some fundamentalists (approx. 5% of the total evangelical population) are more separatistic. Fundamentalists and "Catholic apologists" should argue amongst themselves and stay out of the way of Christians who want to share Christ.
It's worth noting that reactionary Catholic literature about Baptists and other groups often targets the laity themselves, making slanderous accusations and assailing the moral character of their opponents. Even the worst fundamentalist literature (such as Chick Tracts) NEVER assails the Catholic laity themselves. It's bizarre that people equate criticism of dogma/politics with "hate" for a whole people group, while they themselves attack others viciously.
