I am a Baptist because I need to be rooted and grounded in the Word of God, and I believe that the best way to interpret the Bible is to take it literally. However, I am a Independent fundamental Baptist, so I may not believe the same as Southern Baptists, though I am in the South. I am a Baptist also because I believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He is the fulfillment of all of the Old Testament prophecies. I am a Baptist because I feel that Baptist churches, Southern Baptist churches specifically, stand strong by the truth of the Bible. The Bible is God's Word and if we don't follow it, then aren't we acting like we don't believe it? We can't pick and choose what parts of the Bible we want to follow. I haven't found yet a doctrinal statement in Southern Baptist beliefs that is not supported by the Bible.

What does Baptist believe premillennium mean?
There are three interpretations of when the millennium will occur in regard to Jesus' second coming.
Pre- millennium-> Jesus comes back and redeems his called ones and then a time of tribulation happens.
Post - millennium-> Everyone alive has to live through the time of tribulation then Jesus comes back.
A-millennium-> The thousand year time of tribulation is an allegory and not necessarily actually going to happen.
My guess from my experience is that devoted baptists accept the pre-millenium view.

First understand that it does not cost you to become a Christian. There are no dues to the church and if you don't pay you can't have your salvation taken away. However, my beliefs are that you should give to God the first of your crops. That would translate to giving your tithes before you buy anything or pay anything. God does not want your leftovers. Leviticus 27:32 says that "The entire tithe of the herd and flock - every tenth animal that passes under the shepards rod will be holy to the Lord." Every tenth animal would be ten percent of the herd. God does not need your money. But you should give back to the Lord out of what you have. Just as your household needs money to run so does your church and your pastor needs to care for his family if he has one. If there is a special need within your church then it is right for your pastor to ask for help. I think that it was said that 10 percent of the people give 90 percent of the money that comes into the church. Tithing is a touchy subject. One that I believe is between you and God alone. He is the one that you have to answer to. May God Bless you.
_____
Your pastor isn't asking for a specific amount, over tithing; he's asking for parishoners to give over and above that amount, if they can and "as the spirit moves them". If you have an extra dollar and feel motivated to give it, do so. The same with a hundred dollars. Or with no dollars, if your budget's tight. (Some people give of their time, or skills.)

Do Baptists get a middle name after being baptized?
No. For Baptsts, baptism and naming are not related. Baptism is an outward sign of a change that has taken place in the the heart. The Jews would name a male baby at circumsion at eight days old, and there are conceptual links between circumcision of the flesh under the law and the change that takes place in the heart of a believer, but it is a mistake to make baptism the replacement for circumcision.

Does Billy Graham believe in a pre-tribulation rapture?
A:
The 'Rapture' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, the nineteenth-century founder of the Plymouth Brethren. Although few people belong the the Plymouth Brethren Church, many Christians believe in Darby's most enduring theological creation, the Rapture. Billy Graham says that he believes in the Rapture theology, but he does not emphasise it.
The belief that Jesus will come again is not new, and Christians have always taught that Jesus will return to earth and that believers should live in anticipation of his second coming. Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice. The first return would be in secret, to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven. Christ would return a second time after years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. The Rapture has no genuine biblical support, and Billy Graham is careful not to insist on belief that these events will actually occur. However, the Rapture is consistent with his overall religious teaching.
