What do Southern Baptists Believe that other Baptists dont?
I don’t know what other Baptists believe so I can’t know what is different except that Independent Baptists tend to view the King James translation as the only good bible and all others translations as lesser or even as evil depending on how and where the pastor was educated. As far as the other response goes I think is wrong. Southern Baptists formed at the time of the Civil War and slavery was certainly a large part of the South breaking away from the US as well as the formation of the Southern Baptist denominatio. There were other issues at stake as well. You will not find Southern Baptists today who support slavery.
No, of course not. First, it should be noted that a member of a religion should not be called "crazy." We may not agree with someone's religious beliefs, and we may even want to debate them; but it isn't useful to call that person names. It should also be noted that not all Baptists are alike. In fact, there are several different denominations of Baptists, some of which are liberal, some of which are moderate, and some of which are conservative. But I don't think any of them would fit the definition of "crazy."
On the other hand, some of the evangelical and fundamentalist Baptists might seem very rigid and judgmental to people from more moderate faiths (conversely, very religious Baptists might wonder why more people can't see the same truth that they see). You may have met some Southern Baptists, for example, and their views are much more conservative than those of other sects. But again, being extremely religious, believing the Bible is the true and literal word of God, and believing that your denomination is the only one that is correct does not mean a person is crazy. It just means that person is a very dedicated believer and his or her religion is a dominant aspect of their life.

Only during the 40 days of Lent. It should change to black on good Friday then change it to white on Easter Day and then it remains for the great 50 days of Easter till the Sunday of Pentecost which then changed to red for that one day. It is not correct to display a draped cross any other time.
In which direction do Baptist churches face?
Baptist churched often ( but not always ) face East. Facing the "return of the Sun(Son)".
What is the Second Baptist Church?
"Second" refers to the chronological order in which the churches were established in the town they are in. I've heard that some cities are large enough to have up to a Seventh Baptist Church. First, Second, Seventh, or any other numbered Baptist churches would likely have identical statements of faith if they belong to the same conference or denomination.
What do Catholic and baptist have in common?
Outside of a belief in the divinity of Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, a belief in the inspiration of the New Testament, and the sacrament of baptism (well, the name and water anyway), very little.
.
Catholics follow the Church established by Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, in 33 A.D. when He said to Peter:
St. Matthew 16:17-19:
And Jesus answering, said to him [Peter]: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of @#!*% shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
Later, He send the Holy Spirit to guide it into all truth and promised to be with it until the end of time. The Catholic Church, then, is the ONLY Church which is the Body of Christ, established by Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit, and guaranteed until the end of the world. This has been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt by It's continuing existence for 2000 years, while It has continued to teach exactly the same things.

Baptists, on the other hand (from The Baptists By Dr. Richard P. Bucher):
There are several theories on the origin of the Baptists. The most convincing theory, and the one that most Baptist historians hold, is that Baptists originated from the English Separatist (Congregationalist) movement at the end of the Sixteenth Century. Robert Browne and John Smyth are often viewed as fathers of the Baptist church. The first English Baptists were General (Arminian) Baptists. 1644 is often viewed as the year of origin for the Baptist churches. It was in that year that the particular (Calvinist) Baptist churches authored the London Confession. This confession stated their faith and rejected the teachings of the Anabaptists and the General Baptists. Note: John Bunyan, the author of Pilgrim's Progress, was a General Baptist; Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a Particular Baptist. The General and Particular Baptists of England united in 1891. It is usually held that the first Baptist congregations in the United States were in Newport, Rhode Island (1638) and Providence, Rhode Island (1639).
Why aren't more southerners Catholic?
the South was settled mostly by Scots-Irish Protestants who are characteristically more individualistic in their religion. This is why the Baptist, Methodist and Pentecostal denominations are in the majority in the South. IN many places in the South the Catholic church was and is seen as an alien kind of faith. Exceptions to this syndrome might be in Texas where the growing Hispanic population makes Catholicism competitive with Baptists in the larger Texas cities.

How many Baptists are there in the world?
There are roughly 47,000,000 - 48,000,000 baptists worldwide. The "Baptist" faith is divided into 200+ sects. The baptist faith, being very similar, if not identical to certain evangelical sects, is more of a coalition of different faiths that share a handful of similar core principals.
Because of the non-cohesive nature of so many "Baptist" churches it is very likely that there is no more than 4,000,000 - 6,000,000 members of one individual faith within the wide spectrum of Baptists.
Is transfer of membership necessary in a baptist church when establishing a new church?
Since local Baptist churches are autonymous (self-governing, self-regulating) it is hard to say that anything involving membership is absolutely required. It really depends on the local church.
Commonly, when a person in involved is involved in a church-plant (establishing a new church), the person would maintain the membership in the parent church until the formal inauguration of the new church. At that time, membership is transferred from the original church to the new church.
However, some Baptist churches accept that individuals can be members of more than one church (this writer is a missionary and is a member his home church in the US, and is also a member of his church on the mission field).
Some Baptist churches accept that an individual is a member of one church, while being an "associate member" of another church. (this writer has also don this.) That means that the person is a member of two churches but one is primary.
Some Baptist churches believe that an individual can only be a member of one church at a time, but have "watch care" assigned to another church. An example of this would be a college student who is a member of one church while being under watch care of another near the college.
Can a Baptist join a Church of Christ?
A Baptist can certainly become a member of The Church of Christ. The main differences in the two churches would have to be decided. The important thing about finding a church is deciding if it is what God would want most for you to do. The Church of Christ takes Communion on the first day of the week rather than quarterly or occasionaly. Read your Bible and find verses that tell you when you should take Communion. Please look up your verses concerning this. You should look this up and find out for yourself what is the truth. One particular verse says to meet on the first day of the week. Another verse says to take it as oft as we meet. The Church of Christ seems to have made a good decision on this.
Also if you believe that musical instruments other than the voice may or may not be acceptable. The Church of Christ does not have musical instruments because they were not used in the New Testament church until 300 years after the church was established. There were several reasons. The first reason was because of a verse stating to make music with your heart. Another reason may have been fear of persecution for those first 300 years. One more reason was not to add traditions into the church that could change the way people worshipped over a long period of time. In other words, in another 300 years would the church still be the same? It was a way of keeping the church simple and uncomplicated for anyone to be able to come to Christ. Everyone is invited to the Church of Christ. It is trying to be as undenominational as possible. It is not considered non denominational because it is not saying every denomination is ok. It is saying that to have divisions in the first place is not what God wants us to do. It is simply a way of getting back to the basics of being a Christian without the hindrances that traditions and changes can do to divide us over time.
Well, that's hard because people tend to cluster in groups, nomatter where they are! In my Youth Group, our your pastor talked to us about this in a sermon... and it took awhile, but our youth group is pretty good at reaching out to everyone, and everyone's pretty good at socalizing with each other. I would suggest you and your friends being the first to break the sterio types people! Go talk to the Jocks, go talk to the nerds, and people in between. A youth group should be working together as the body of Christ! Maybe get your pastor to talk about this!

How much did it cost to build Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center?
This question has absolutly nothing to do with Christianity, however researching Hillcrest I found that it is a non-profit Level II trauma center located in Waco,Tx. The hospital sits on a 74 acre campus with about 264 bed units. At a guess since the hospital is 400,000 sq.ft.+ I would say it cost between two hundred fifty million to four hundred fifty million dollars to build. This is a SWAG at best.
