What is Christians fasting?

This ranges as simply going without luxuries through to going without food (and sometimes even water) for a period of time. Fasting, as well as ceansing the body physically, helps to focus the mind and spirit onto more spiritual things. Jesus himself fasted in the wilderness before beginning his work on earth in order to focus his mind on the task ahead. This fasting in the wilderness is commemorated at the Church's season of Lent. During this time Christians reexamine their faith and tend to look carefully at their lives and their Christian journey. Fasting at this time can be anything from doing without the odd bar of chocolate, or glass of wine, through to a full blown fasting, eating only essential items in order to keep healthy - any money saved by not buying food sent to those parts of the world where famine and starvation are sadly more common. Thus fasting not only cleanses the body physically, but also helps the body spiritually, and can also help those who normally have insufficient to eat.

What types of worship are used by the Baptist Church?

In the Baptist Church, the worship service is orderly and professional. The deacons, deacon sisters, trustees or whoever appointed for that particular Sunday would do what is called Devotion. Devotion is the first part of service. In devotion the appointed people would lead the congregation in songs, prayer, testifying, and reading scriptures until the minister or pastor is ready to start the second part of the service. Once the church service has started; Singing, Responsive reading, offering, chant, sermon and alter call will then take place. At the end of the service, the Benediction would come and then the pastor will dismiss the church. In recent years, Praise and Worship has been implemented into the first part of the service. Many churches are alternating between Devotion and Praise and Worship or combining members of both parties to perform both task during the period. This combination is done to appeal to both Traditional and Contemporary Parties. The type of worship service is mostly blended because their are many people from different backgrounds. Usually this is set by the pastor and the deacons, however, if the congregation is in disagreement, it can change within certain guidelines.

Who was the evangelist before Billy Graham that changed his mind about God?

Billy Graham's friend, Charles Bradley Templeton, was not only a consummate evangelist but Billy Graham's early partner on the preaching circuit, and co-founder of Youth for Christ International. Eventually beginning to doubt the reason for his faith, he decided to study theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. Gaining a real grounding in his faith merely confirmed his doubts, until he reached the point that he could no longer be a believer. His personal honesty came at great personal cost, causing him to lose many of his friends (but not Billy Graham) and even a marriage breakdown.
