What is the original habitat for a beagle?
Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, so for all intents and purposes, their habitat is wherever a human makes it. However, if you are wondering where their habitat is in the same sense as "Where is a hamster's habitat" (which is also domesticated but can be traced to Syria), that is a complicated question. The reason we have different breeds with different characteristics is because they come from different places and their ancestors had to make different evolutionary adaptations due to those different environments. So the question should really be: What is this breed's original habitat?
Are Beagles small or medium sized dogs?
Beagles are medium sized dogs. They are too stocky to be a small breed.
What foods are dogs allergic to?
Dogs don't really have allergies but if you count death as one do not give a dog raisons, grapes, chocolate,or nuts they are dog poison and will kill them if a large dog eats only alittle nothing will happen but even a little bit will kill a small dog but that doesn't mean you can give that to large dogs and bones are bad the may be smooth on the out side but dogs chew their food of you break a bone in half it will be as sharp as a knife and will cut the dogs stomach or neck and will usually kill them immediately make sure dogs don't chew cans too they are just like bones but milk bones and the ones at pet stores are jusr fine.
There is a great deal of conflicting information about this. However, one Australian source particularly close to the purebred dingoes of Australia (see link below) states that dingoes do not bark. They have three distinct types of howl, as quoted on the site:
What many sites do not acknowledge is that there are very few purebred dingoes remaining. The dingoes that bark are invariably the result of generations of cross-breeding with domestic dogs.
What is the appearance of the beagle?
The beagle is a short, 'stocky' hound breed, originally used for hunting. The coat is short, and can be either tricolour or tan and white. The dog's muzzle is an medium in length, and straight. The ear's are slightly longer then the frame of the dog's face, and droop slightly. The beagle's skull is round and broad, and the feet are round. Beagles have brown or hazel eyes, the tan and white usually have slightly lighter eye colour than the tricolour and the tail is carried almost upright. When hunting, the dog carries it's head upright and raises it's tail slightly to show awareness, and beagles have a distinct baying bark. The average beagle is between 12 and 17 inches, and weighs 10-12kg. The beagle is an average shedder. The average life expectancy of the breed is about 12.5 years, and they need plenty of exercise as beagles are prone to becoming overweight. Because of this, regular health problems include arthritis and hip and back problems, as well as epilepsy and chrondroplasia (deformities in the front legs, like a basset hound). The beagle is a well tempered dog, and can live with both other dogs and children, but is best to not live with other pets such as cats or rabbits.
Mine hates the smell of coffee.... really weird. Other than that it's mostly dog stuff, sound of the vacuum, swimming, water hose, and cat dander.
Every once in a while he'll get some dust stuck up in his sinuses and it will make him do some backwards sneezing thing where it sounds like he's heaving or choking. But really he's just clearing out the nostrils.
How much food should a 2 year old beagle be eating a day?
General rule of thumb for feeding any puppy (under one year of age) is one cup per ten pounds of body weight per day. So if your beagle is 20 pounds at 8 months, he/she would get two cups per day split into two or three meals. Upon entering adulthood, the feeding amount should be about one cup per twenty pounds per day. So that same 20 pound dog would get one cup of food per day split into two meals. However, this can be slightly more or less depending on your pet's activity level. If he/she seems to be getting to heavy, decrease the amount.
What is the temperament of a beagle dog?
Beagles are generally lovely dogs. They are 'loyal' - unless they have their eyes set on a nice plump rabbit in the distance on a walk - and are excellent with children and other dogs. Beagles are well-suited as family pets, and will do - literally - ANYTHING for food. In fact, that is the only bad habit that I have ever come across in any beagle - if not trained properly, and in many cases, even if trained well, they will constantly scavenge for any food they can find - it's what they were bred for. This may involve begging at the dinner table, bin raiding, getting into kitchen cupboards and drawers, and dragging food from work surfaces. The number of times we have come home to find that our beagle has snatched our pizza or steak pie, meant for our dinner, and eaten the whole thing. Apart from this, beagles are very affectionate, and will happily enjoy an evening by a cosy fire, after enjoying a nice long romp through the woods. Beagles are NOT an easy breed to train, as they would much rather enjoy chasing a fox than enjoy a pat or a stroke, and a "Good dog!" from their owner. Even with the most obedient of beagles, there isn't a 100% guarantee that he will come back when he is called, as I have often found out with mine. Beagles are pack dogs, and if considering getting one, do take into consideration the fact that he might need a friend, as there is nothing that a beagle likes better than chasing a playmate around.

A first generation cross-breed has the potential to grow to the size of its largest parent so a first generation husky x terrier could grow to the size of a purebred husky.
If the cross-breed is not a first generation (i.e. bred from two husky x terriers), the parents will be a good indication of its final size.
What are three facts about beagles?
Beagles are known for their good sense of smell and tracking ability. The activity of hunting rabbits, foxes, etc. with beagles is known as beagling. Beagles were introduced in the United States in the 1870s.
Our beagle belongs to a whippet racing club (Beagle division). They chase the lure over a straight course for 120 yards. The fastest Beagles do it in slightly over 10 seconds.
What is the origin of the beagle dog?
In the eleventh century, William the Conqueror brought the Talbot hound into Great Britain. A white scent hound, the Talbot (now extinct) is thought to be a more recent ancestor of the modern day beagle. The black and tan Irish Kerry Beagles are also considered another possible link in the evolution of early beagles. A small hunter similar to the Bloodhound, Kerry Beagles may be the reason for the strong scenting abilities of beagles today.

Are beagles outside dogs or inside dogs?
We've had a beagle living indoors for about 4 years now, and after the initial potty-training period, she has done very well. Loves to cuddle up on the bed and lay in sunshine that comes through our screen door or windows. It has been easy to teach her which pieces of furniture she can and cannot lay on. Shedding, as with all dogs, is more of an issue in the Summer, but very manageable. The worst part is leaving her home when we leave. On occasion, she gets nervous and for some reason licks the bottom of the door, making the carpet around said door, very wet. When she was a puppy, she would often howl while we were gone. However, I lived in an apartment complex with her between years 1-2, and did not have any complaints from neighbors about her. It would be beneficial to have a large, open area in the house to play every now and then.
Do hunters prefer to use beagles for hunting?
Beagles are scent hounds. They function well in hunting situations where the quarry leaves a scent trail to be followed but the animal is rarely seen. As a hunter and trainer I have 25 years experience with beagles and rabbits. Rabbits are most often the prey hunted with beagles, however I have seen beagles hunt and flush many species of game bird.
How much should the average female beagle weigh?
Beagles should not weigh very much at all, despite their unending desire to eat everything in site. A male should weigh between 22-25 lbs when fully grown, while a full grown female should weight 20-23 lbs.
