We've had a beagle living indoors for about 4 years now, and after the initial potty-training period, she has done very well. Loves to cuddle up on the bed and lay in sunshine that comes through our screen door or windows. It has been easy to teach her which pieces of furniture she can and cannot lay on. Shedding, as with all dogs, is more of an issue in the Summer, but very manageable. The worst part is leaving her home when we leave. On occasion, she gets nervous and for some reason licks the bottom of the door, making the carpet around said door, very wet. When she was a puppy, she would often howl while we were gone. However, I lived in an apartment complex with her between years 1-2, and did not have any complaints from neighbors about her. It would be beneficial to have a large, open area in the house to play every now and then.

They won't eat and won't do what a normal dog would normally do. If you want to be sure, tell your parent/guardian to take the dog to the vet to be checked.

I have a Jack Russell/pitbull mix, which I did not breed, and I have to say it is a bad idea. Jack Russell terriers are hunting dogs. They are used to hunt foxes and other small prey. Because Jacks are hunting dogs they have a high prey drive. If you breed a Jack with a pitbull you are going to end up with a pitbull with a high prey drive which can be a dangerous animal in the wrong hands or even in the hands of someone who doesn't understand how to handle dogs with a high prey drive. Ususally, you cannot look at these dogs and tell they are part Jack, especially in the case of Jack/American Pitbull Terrier mixes. My dog is Jack/APBT and he looks just like a red-nosed pitbull, but a bit small as he weighs in at 56 pounds, but he has some very definite Jack traits; he is very quick and agile, he barks a lot and he does love a hunt.

The best place to buy your beagle puppy is where you trust the most. If you trust a specific shop a lot then go ahead and find out if they have a beagle puppy, but first and foremost, here's a question that you should think about: is a beagle really suitable for you? If the answer is yes then, great. BUY IT! ADOPT IT or do whatever but note that they are very heavy barkers and their barks are sometimes more like howls, though it really depends on the beagle ITSELF because different beagles have different characteristics and mine is almost completely-bark free, which i'm very very thankful for. Most of the times it depends on the personality of that specific dog/pup. I hope you the best.

In my opinion, all dogs like their belly rubbed. I have no idea why, but they love it.

They should sleep through the night, of course, and get a good sleep after a fun playtime. I would say, 2 or 3 half hour naps during the day.

Beagles are all domesticated, either pets or working dogs. They live wherever their owners puts them.

Beagles howl for a number of reasons. They may be hearing something they find upseting outside. Another reason is that they may be suffering from seperation anxiety, something that happens in the pack-minded breed sometimes.

The AKC has two classifications for beagles; 13 inch and 15 inch.

The 13 inch category is for beagles that are 13 inches or less at the shoulder when fully grown.

The 15 inch beagle category is any size above 13 inches but not over 15 inches.

As I understand it, in England the larger size can be up to 16 inches at the shoulder.

Of course height classifications can be a big vague when you want to know what to expect as far as an individual dogs size. By which I mean some dogs may have a slight build and be lean while others can be built more like small tanks.

Beagles have fur. Therefore it usually upsets allergies. Dogs like poodles have hair, which make them great for people who have animal allergies.

It depends on your area, and the breeders in your area. In the suburbs of Chicago they can go up to $900, but I think that is a ridiculous price. Beagles are pretty common, you could go to Petfinder.com and find one that you could adopt from a shelter for a much lower cost like $800 or $500.

Dogs can eat any brand of trusty, reliable dog food brands. There is no specific one for beagles however if your dog has medical issues, then contact a vet to find out the best type of dog food for it.
