The victims were Todd Bachman, a prominent horticulturalist from Lakeville, Minnesota, his wife Barbara, and their female Chinese national tour guide. Todd Bachman along with the Chinese tour guide (whose name was not released) died in the attack. Barbara Bachman was severely wounded but survived the attack. But it used to be said that 19 was "over-the-hill" for gymnastics. Although, Dominique Dawes retired at 23 years old, just a few months before her 24 birthday. And Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina retired at 25 years old.
