Why is there foamy white substance in your betta fish tank?
1 - The water has excess amounts of waste. The bigger the fish the more waste is created. Do a partial water change no larger than 30%. If you still see foam, wait another day or so for the parameters to level out, and then perform another partial water change.
Fluctuations in water parameters stress fish and lead to death. This is why you shouldn't change more than 30% of the water in one hit. Water changes of 50% should only be used in emergencies (pH crash, ammonia spikes etc)
2 - Excess amounts of water de-chlorinator or conditioner. Partial change of 30% should do the trick - ensuring you follow instructions on the de-chlorinator bottle. If problem still persists, change brands or look into Reverse Osmosis/Deionised water.

Are female betta fish aggressive?
Some females WILL fight, so trying to keep two of them in a small space (say one or two gallons) is NOT recommended. However, with enough space they normally do just fine. This may shock you though... the same is true of the males. When the males fight, it's over territory. So keeping two together in a small environment will lead to some serious battles. Give them space - say, two or three of them in a long 30 gallon aquarium - and they do just fine. One of my favorite aquariums was a 20 gallon tall with five females (and a black ghost knife). In the wild, bettas live in rice patties which cover several acres EACH. a single male betta will claim roughly 300 gallons or so of that patty as its territory. so unless you have a 900 gallon pond, you should never keep male bettas together. there is not a single betta expert who will tell you otherwise. His only experience with keeping bettas together is with his five females. Betta females can live together in groups of 4 or more in tanks of 10 gallons or larger. 6 or more females is best though. see bettafish.com for honest information that wont wind up with you staring at dead bettas.
Females do not always get along. If you want to keep them together, you must have at least 4 in a minimum tank size of 5 gallons, with plenty of hiding spots. They will establish a pecking order. If you keep 2 together one will bully and may kill the other, and if you keep 3 you'll get two on one. 4 or more usually co-exist peacefully but it is sometimes necessary to remove a large, obnoxious bully or a small, shy fish that is always picked on and keep them alone. Female bettas are peaceful community fish because they are faster and more agile than the males. They should not be kept with baby fish or with fish large enough to eat them, or in community tanks with filters that create fast flows, however are suitable for most communities.

Bettas only have short lives and are very old at 2 years. If your fish is not that old then my advice is to look after it properly by following the rules which are.:- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water (a Betta is a 3 inch fish and needs at least 3 gallons). :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs at least 50% of its water changed every week. Bettas are tropical fish and need to be kept at around 78F. They should be fed a good "Betta specific" food morning and evening as much as thery will eat in 15 minutes. If you follow the above rules your fish should do OK. If you miss out on any of the above then I can guarantee that the fish will be constantly getting sick and will live a shortened lifespan.
Do goldfish go good with glow fish?

You should be more worried about the neon fish getting eaten. Goldfish can get up to about a foot but they usually don't get THAT big (mine are about 6"). Goldfish will eat anything that will fit into it's mouth. Whether it is ghost shrimp, or a smaller goldfish, they will eat it.
Can goldfish eat freeze dried bloodworms?
Yes goldfish can eat frozen bloodworms.My advice would be to thaw the worm first before you feed them to your goldfish.Goldfish also enjoy daphnia,freeze-dried brineshrimp,vegetables, and oranges.Just make sure not to feed any fancy goldfish that have a wen (worty growth on head) live food because the food may burrow into the fishes wen and cause horrific health problems.

What materials do you need for betta fish?
The basic materials for a Betta are as follows:
A tank with a minimum size of 2.5 gallons, though at least 5 gallons is reccomended.
A heater that is safe for your size of aquarium, one that is adjustable and can be set to about 78F
Filtration if possible, though it is not required for betta's.
At least two types of food, I like to keep bloodworms and bettas pellets on hand. A variety in their diet makes their colors brighter and makes them live a lot longer. Feed them 2-3 minutes per day 6 days a week, and once a week, "fast" them, doing this prevents infections and constipation.
Do NOT use an air-bubbler in a small tank, Betta's can breathe just fine from the surface, however they can not handle any type of a current, as they live naturally in stagnant water (please note: stagnant means not moving, not dirty. Betta's do require clean water)
If the tank is less than 5 gallons, change 100% of the water every week, if it is 5-10 gallons AND filtered, change 50% of the water, 10 gallons and above, filtered, change 25% of the water.
the OPTIMUM Betta environment:
10+ Gallon tank, stocked with a single male or female Betta (never co-exist any Betta's, male or female, while it is possible to stock multiple females they will often turn on each other as they get older)
Other tankmates: Otoclincus Catfish, Corydoras catfish, and some have had success with Ghost Shrimp, but shrimp is also one of the Betta's favorite foods.
A heater appropriate to the tank (5W per gallone), that is adjustable, set to 78F, but increased to 82F if the Betta get's sick (fish don't get fevers, so you need to warm the water to fight disease)
A filter, such as a Tetra EX20 or Whisper EX20, one with a permanent biological filter and a carbon filter element. Tie a sponge to the end of the filter output, or place a piece of plastic there to defer the current (remember, betta's don't like current).
Live plants, and a log or cave for the Betta to hide in.
Other notes:
NEVER use plastic plants, as they cut the betta's fin. Either use real, or silk plants. Never stock betta's with any type of fin nipping or aggressive fish, as Betta's swim very slowly compared to other fish and their long fins often become targets. Betta's will also attack any colorful or long finned fish.

Yes. Its also fun to watch them go into their fighting position! Its the best way to keep two fighting fish. Another way though, is to keep them in a small tank with a plastic divider in the middle so that they can see each other but not get to the them.

How do you tell male from female ferrets?
The most obvious sign - look at the ferret's underside - if you see what looks like a belly button - it's a male
Male ferrets have a 'belly button' :) Actually, many people think that their ferret has a pronounced outie belly button, only to find out it is the male ferret's penis. It actually is in the lower part of the abdomen on the underside of the male ferret, while the female has her vulva much closer to the anus - just a few millimeters away, compared to several centimeters between the penis and anus of the male ferret.
A way to determine gender - turn your ferret over on his/her back. A female will have an opening (vulva) directly above the anal opening. For a male look about half way between ribcage and the tail and what can be mistaken for a the "belly button", it's not a belly button, but a penis.
Some major physical differences between male and female ferrets, first being size, males always larger that females. Female ferrets usually grow to be 12 -16 inches long, give or take a few for the tail, while male ferrets average a 1 1/2 - 2 feet in length with a heavier build. Another way of telling is by the head shape. Ferrets' heads are wedge, or 'V' shaped, male ferret's head is much wider of an angle than the female - female's noses are more pointed. Male ferrets can be much more odorous than the female due to size and hormones.
It's the same with humans, just gotta look more carefully. And females act differently then males.
Adult female ferrets are about 3 inches shorter than adult male ferrets. Male ferrets also have longer, thinner noses, and more wide-set ears.
The most obvious way to tell is just to look, though. Female ferrets appear to have nothing down there, while male ferrets do.
What does an one week betta fry eat?
The easiest way is to boiled an egg and then take the egg yolk to make it into liquid fry food. Take a very small piece of egg yolk size of rice and mix it with water. Stir it until it becomes debris which the fry can eat easily. Let the egg yolk particles be as smaller as possible. Feed then egg yolk until they get to 2 weeks old and above. On the 3rd week, let them have bigger food such as BBS, Microworms, bloodworms and so on.
Warning: Egg yolks can be a good food for fry with high protein. It actually help them grow faster than what we can imagine. HOWEVER, be caution with the water quality. Egg yolk tend to make the water cloudy and the bottom gets really bad with lots of fungus going on. Make sure you siphon any left over food every each meal. Otherwise, you will only see one by one die.
P.S. Fry will eat anything they saw. Even a rotten egg with fungus, they would eat it. So pay extra attention on this.
Can you put rosy red minnows with male betta fish?
