* Live in or live out

* Full time or part time

* One child, two or more

* Whether nanny needs to drive, e.g to pick up the kids

* Whether you live near the T, in a close suburb, or farther out

* Whether your children have special medical or other needs

* Need for occasional night/early coverage for business trips

* Whether paying "over the table" following employment laws and standard practices

* Years of experience, college degrees

* Perks (free cell phone, use of car, pool, country club, fun vacation, ...)

* Special situations -- Whether nanny has a child and can share your home, etc.

* Recruiting directly versus premium referral service

* Caring for just the kids, or participation in other housework

* Ability to withstand snowdays when nanny can't drive in and parents still have to work

* Whether for a limited time (e.g. 1 year) or expectation of years together

Etc.

Assume for now, a live out nanny, full time (45 hours per week) with all legal bases covered, ordinary household (clean, warm, no country club) it is usually possible to find within $14 to $17 per hour for very high quality loving people worthy of trusting one's children for care and guidance during the day. But for many reasons, there are situations where less or more are mutually agreeable.

Of course, this is a deeply personal decision for both nanny and family, so the final decision is usually not primarily about the rate.

Richie Havens performed in greater Boston on several occasions. In 1971, he performed on the Boston Common on September 27th (it had been scheduled for several weeks earlier, but rain postponed it). The Boston area has become very strict about clubs which serve minors. Almost, if not all 16 plus clubs have shut down, and many clubs are 19 plus in order to keep out high school students and cater to the college scene. Even many 19 plus clubs have recently been forced to stop allowing anyone under 21 to prevent underage drinking.

A simple solution is to allow anyone between 16 and 22 years of age and disallow alcohol. This way, there is no underage drinking, and also minors are protected against predators. There is a huge interest in this kind of club, and BAGLY (Boston Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Youth) hold events using this age restriction.
