I can't. I never can. He is my first love and I will never ever forget about him. I've tried cutting off all contact and it made me hurt even worse. He's always in my head, even now. Just one week after he broke up with me, he started dating another girl. It devastated me. I've spent many nights crying myself to sleep. The only way I can distract myself is being with friends and family. I have a tendency to bottle things up, but don't. Talk to someone. I talk to my best friends about it and they make me feel so much better. We go to the same church and many of my friends tell me that they can see the pain on my face when I look at him. But they also say they can see the way he looks at me, even now. I have trouble believing this because that's just me. I play guitar, draw, and just laugh whenever I start getting it really bad. Don't try to get over him/her. It will come in time. In the mean time, try to do something that always makes you feel better. But the time will come when you find yourself moving on and don't give up. There's someone out there. The right one.

Don't let anybody hold you back, if you have been dating for five years chances are you will probably get married, your already commited to him big time. You also need to see what it is like to converse with the opposite sex other than just him. There is so much more out there and it seems like he is trying to hold you back.
